Lovely small hotel in Bexhill on Sea

Reviewed By Jewelsh02

The owners/staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Everything in the room was of a high standard, well designed and tasteful. The breakfast menu included both vegetarian and vegan options, not many British hotels offer that! The Driftwood is located a short walk from the seafront and the De La Warr pavilion. Very convenient. Several restaurants, cafes and bars close by. This was an excellent choice for our stay in Bexhill.

Enjoyable 1st visit despite the refurbishment.

Reviewed By Susan L

We visited today for a long awaited birthday lunch gifted to us by our family. This very attractive beach front hotel is right in the middle of full refurbishment and this is the reason we gave 4 stars and not 5. It’s hard to gauge the atmosphere of an hotel when there are workmen everywhere but we found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is wheelchair friendly and although it’s on different levels there are carpeted ramps everywhere. We were shown to the only restaurant that is operating at the moment and this has been refurbished. It is a large airy room overlooking the lawn. We had a table for 2 by one of the large windows. One very slight niggle…perhaps just a little more space between the tables would have been welcomed as we could hear every word of our neighbours’ conversations. The menu is very comprehensive and our drinks arrived promptly. We were very happy that our food arrived piping hot and my husband really enjoyed his fish and chips that was well presented with really good chips, mushy peas and plenty of tartare sauce. My Caesar salad with salmon was delicious with loads of anchovies and a good dressing. My husband enjoyed his large glass of Merlot and my glass of champagne was lovely. The service was good. We will be visiting again and are looking forward to seeing the hotel when the refurbishment is complete.

Fantastic guest house in a good location for the De La Warr Pavilion. Andy and Rachel were superb hosts, the spacious rooms were very clean and tidy with comfortable beds and plenty of coffee and tea facilities. The breakfast in the morning was excellent with a choice of a substantial full English and a wide variety of cereals and spreads. We will definitely return in the future.

WHAT A VIEW! AMAZING B & B

Reviewed By ginnyLondon

My husband and I have now stayed twice at this beautiful boutique two room B & B, which was an amazing find this year. The previous reviews do not lie, there is nothing negative about this gorgeous boutique B & B and those views, on your own semi-private balcony. On Arrival in Bexhill sea front, the outside of the property is unassuming and looks very small (reminded me of Alms Houses), but once inside - WOW! Seng greets you at the door and he is a lovely host, he explains everything and show you around - keeping his "social distance". There is hand sanitiser in the communal lounge (lounge shared by the two rooms). Our room was the Jacuzzi bath room and was a lovely large room, very nicely decorated and you could tell that Seng has spent a lot on furnishing the property. Lovely large comfortable King bed, seating area with two armchairs and a small round table, dresser below a large flat screen TV, large wardrobe complete with bathrobes and slippers, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, luggage rack etc. Designated cubby hole for the tea/coffee etc, coffee pod machine and a small fridge holding complimentary beer and soft drinks plus fresh milk. The bathroom was a good size with a very relaxing jacuzzi bath, shower over bath, sink unit, wall mounted storage unit, WC, towel rail radiator etc and complimentary small toiletries comprising shower gel and shampoo, cotton buds and cotton wool pads, plus tissues. there is underfloor heating throughout, so the rooms are cosy and warm, you also have your own thermostat on the wall to control the heating which is great. Your have your own private balcony (separated from your neighbours by planters) with direct access from your room and table and chairs outside to enjoy meals or drinks from. We stayed in early July, our first venture out after lockdown and ate all of our meals on our balcony, as the weather was so lovely, choosing to get take-aways and eat on the balcony rather than venture to restaurants. The second time in mid August, where we stayed with our daughter and her partner in the second room and we shared the whole balcony between us - we did venture to a restaurant on the second night, but ate fish and chips on the balcony on the first night. If you have lovely weather there is nothing better than eating outside and watching the waves, boats, bird life and people passing by. Breakfast was wonderful, a good choice on the menu of hot and cold options and was very tasty and plentiful. Seng brings up to your room at your own allotted time of choosing. Finally the views are to die for - what a wonderful relaxing B & B with a great host.

I am horrified to say that today at 2.45 pm I have been contacted by Booking.com to be told that today they were contacted by Park Guest House to say that they will be closed until 31Jan 2020. I cannot believe that a business (Park Lodge) has acted in this way. Booking.com has been great in trying to arrange an alternative

Lovely guest house and we were made very welcome by the owners. The room was comfortable and had tea/coffee and bars of chocolate. We were asked what we wanted for breakfast the night before and what time we would like it. Breakfast was great with Ian asking us if we wanted extra tea coffee and toast!
