The beautiful "Rio Mondego" is the largest river totally located within the Portuguese borders. It runs for about 234 kms, from its mother sources in the "Serra da Estrela" mountain range and crosses very many different municipalities. Before reaching the Atlantic Ocean in "Figueira da Foz", it widens up and crosses "Coimbra" ... Beautiful bridges, scenic views! From the top of a hill, the oldest University in the Portuguese-speaking world - the "Universidade de Coimbra" - overlooks the city and its river. Unmissable! Enjoy!
