Great value for money, and everything you need from a value B&B

The house is easily accessible from the motorway and main roads. it is near to the sea, port and local attractions. Heather is very friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was freshly decorated with new carpets. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The shower is over the bath and was hot and powerful enough. Continental breakfast was varied and plentiful. There is ample off-street parking. We would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others.

Avoid at all costs

If you can't find anywhere to stay then go home don't stay here. The room was 8 foot square. The shower was a shared up on a different level. The toilet again shared with hotel. Was down a corridor down stairs. It looked like a knocking shop where sailors would bring back a lady for the night. Or a hmo. Definately not a hotel. Nor a bed and breakfast. I. Surprised the premises met basic legal requirements. Avoid avoid avoid

The Alverbank Rooms

The Alverbank Hotel is a Grade II listed building in Alverstoke, Hampshire, boasting spectacular views of the Solent and the Isle of Wight. Nearby are some of the finest nautical attractions in British naval history, including Lord Nelson's iconic HMS Victory, the Mary Rose museum, the Submarine Museum & the Diving Museum. Originally commissioned as a house in 1842 by J.W. Croker (one of the leading figures in Victorian-era politics), the venue has, over the years, played host to many well-known political figures including the Duke of Wellington and former Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel, who used to catch the teatime train down from London on a Friday to ensure he arrived in time for dinner! The Alverbank has also hosted royalty; Queen Victoria's second son Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, resided here whilst attending the Naval College next door at Bay House and, later, Prince Edward, Prince of Wales, found it the perfect environment in which to 'escape' the formalities of Osborne House, just across the Solent. We have a stunning menu which features small plates, tapas style & larger plates & a wonderful cocktail & wine menu plus an array of different drinks. Our restaurant is currently only open Thursday - Sunday. Guests booking rooms with us on Monday - Wednesday have a Continental breakfast included in their room rate. We are also a fantastic venue for events - whether it is for a corporate meeting, a birthday party, or the wedding of your dreams, our dedicated events team will do everything they can to ensure you have the most enjoyable experience.

Historical setting for family event

We booked a Premium Room for the night of a Family Event being hosted at The Alverstoke Hotel. We were greeted warmly, and were able to access the room ahead of time. Very comfortable bed, clean and staff were lovely. The event catering was plentiful and very good quality and although we were not staying for Sunday lunch, it’s obviously a popular place as we returned from a post-event morning walk to a full dining room. The addition of the Lily Langtree painting and the fact you can see Osborne House akcriss the water gives the clue!

As good as ever

We first visited Milvil Corner in 2014, and each visit is just as enjoyable, if not more so, than that first one. Upon arrival you are made to feel welcome with tea & biscuits, and every morning the breakfasts are beautifully-prepared and presented. The home-made marmalade that is served is a particular favourite of mine, as it is thick-cut and given to you in beautiful glass server. Steve and Angela have set the bar very high here, as the presentation of both the rooms and the food is second-to-none. We enjoyed a lovely week's stay in 'Maurice' (one of the larger rooms) and can thoroughly recommend it.
