Situated on Westgate Community Conservancy west of Samburu National Reserve, Sasaab is a nine room lodge with unparalleled views across the Ewaso Nyiro toward Mt Kenya. Each of the rooms is over one hundred metres squared in area, with a private plunge pool in which to cool off and enjoy views of the landscape and wildlife around the lodge. Enjoy the luxurious Spasaab.
I can only rate this less than a zero!! I don’t even know why they called this is a safari. There is absolutely zero animals. We did spot a few lions that was skittish and scared of us and ran away as soon as they saw us. There is so much lack of food for the lions they have to steal the sheep from the village. The rooms are dirty with mud. Also, expect a cold shower. It is a extremely hot and they give you a cheap fan. We paid for a tracker, Who slept our entire trip. Thankfully my 16-year-old‘s had been on safaris and was tracking more animals than my sleeping tracker. I also have an app that translates what they are speaking in their native tongue and they were speaking of my family And other guest poorly . I would not even repeat the vulgarity that they were speaking. Also, on our last game drive the driver who was fairly decent had to ask my husband to help track animals and hold the spotlight for him because our tracker was asleep again. I do want to say the chef stands out the food was not good at all but he truly tried to make my children happy. Now I would leave you with the best part. They have a husband and wife manager team. The female is fake nice. The male he is not nice at all he drinks all day and sits on TikTok and Instagram. He absolutely refuses to speak to guest and honestly he drinks every time I see him at the bar he never looks up at us because he’s too busy on TickTock and Instagram. When you’re going to spend your money at a resort like this do not stay here absolutely run and avoid this is coming from a traveler that has traveled to almost every continent in the world.

Situated in the semi arid North of Kenya, in a land of endless rugged beauty and untamed wilderness, Elephant Watch Safaris has established its camp on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Samburu National Reserve. Oria Douglas-Hamilton, together with her husband, Iain, have been associated with elephants for more than 40 years, and have been pioneers in studying the intricate lives of elephants and their intelligent social behaviour. They have brought their scientific studies to the attention of the world, highlighting a well-organised family structure, with a conscious level of emmotions, pain, speech, and protection. Elephants form an integral part of the socio economic livelihood of the Samburu people who share the land with the elephants.
Place needs updating. Rest room outside eating area was disgusting. Manager TOTALLY IN CONTROL and NOT listening to guests. No respect for dietary needs. Food disappointing /budget limited for what you pay there. Great elephant sightings but all along the river can see what we saw there. Place needs new management and a good updating/cleaning. Even our guide concurred.

This was a not so good Sopa lodge. Small room, cramped bathroom. When we went to complain there was only a mosquito net around one of the beds, there wasn’t a living soul to be found. We knocked on doors and hollered hallo, but there wasn’t even a barman to get a drink from. When there was staff, they did not appear inclined to make there guests comfortable. As there were not many guests, all meals (including breakfast) were set menu – served at the table by a morose guy. Water and electricity available at limited times, wifi very unreliable (when electricity was on of course).

Service and food were great. There were buffets when more guests were in the lodge and a la carte for fewer guests. The pool overlooks a waterhole, and we saw elephants right outside the room. Safaris in the surrounding park were stellar. The views to die for. It can get a bit warm in the room - pack something really light to sleep in. Watch those naughty monkeys trying to sneak into your room.

Beautiful, authentic bush camp in an unspoilt natural environment within Samburu National Reserve. We have 6 private tents in a riverfront setting and can arrange game drives, camping trips to the Matthew's Ranges, Samburu cultural barbeque and dance evenings, camel trekking, guided walks, etc. The atmosphere is informal, family-run, and offers something unique and genuinely in tune with nature.
We had such a fantastic time at Lion King Bush Camp! Everything from the game drives, Delicious meals, Sundowners and stories round the fire in the evenings made our stay unforgettable. I would like to thank Nahim and his team for looking after us and showing us Samburu over our 2 week stay. I will definitely return again and again. See you soon!

We stayed here for two nights. The positives: 1) Samburu is a nice park, and when staying here you are close to the wildlife, 2) the food was good, although not spectacular, and 3) the staff was very friendly. The negatives: The standard of the rooms is not acceptable. They need to seal a lot of holes in the roof and walls… We had a whole family of bats in our room that flew around all night, and a really big lizard (not the small Geckos). The only other guests at the camp had problems with bats too and did not enjoy their rooms.

We stayed at several lodges during our visit to Kenya. Samburu Lodge met all of our expectations. Clean, comfortable accommodations. Great food, fresh and tasty. Friendly, helpful staff. The people is what made our adventure to Kenya special.
