Gli ambienti sono stati ristrutturati con grande cura e nel rispetto dei colori e dei materiali della tradizione. Dai prodotti da bagno nelle stanze fino alle marmellate della colazione, tutto è fornito con la collaborazione di aziende locali. La plastica è bandita, tanto che ad ogni ospite viene regalata una borraccia da riempire con l acqua spillata dal distributore nella reception. Una piccola e accogliente piscina aspetta gli ospiti per offrire loro meritati momenti di relax. L accoglienza è professionale e nel contempo famigliare. È sicuramente un luogo dove tornare e ritornare.

In the rural Spongano village, in Puglia, to 80 km from aereoport of Brindisi and to 5 km from sea, we run a familiar “Bed & Breakfast” in a suggestive 800 century mansion estate. Two independent and typically furnished lodgings : double rooms bedded with bath, suite with two double rooms with one bath and cooking. At guests’ disposal our Italian-style garden with box edges, citrus plantation and oasis of palms, and it is possible pleasant convivial meetings with owners’ mansion and cooking’s courses.
Hidden gem in the middle of an old town
Reviewed By 1Springsummer1We stayed at La Macchiola with my extended family for a week. It is a B&B within an old small town of Spongano, 1 hour drive from Brindisi airport. <Location> This B&B is hard to reach without a rental car with a proper navi. There are small alleys and one way streets. The town Spongano is small, and there are little to see. We took a walk to Kiosk and had a local ice coffee (Caffè alla Salentina, an espresso with ice cube and sweetened almond milk). We bought water and snack at the local supermarket, which is opened in the morning and evening. There is a friendly souvenir shop selling local produce. The restaurants in Spongano are ok. We usually drove to neighbouring towns in search for gourmet dinner. Since Spongano is located on the land, we drove to different beaches for half an hour everyday. Many beaches nearby are with rocks. So we drove half an hour to Alimini beach with white sand and clear sky blue water. At this beach, the water is shallow and the waves are quiet. It's perfect for families with small children. <Facility> When you enter the gate into La Macchiola, it's another world. Lots of green and white stone walls. There are 11 rooms to choose from, which are all spacious and nicely decorated. The furnishing reminded me of the good old British B&B with upholstered sofas and curtains with tassels. I like the fact that there are no TV in the rooms - quality time spent for reading books and interacting with other guests. The swimming pool is clean and surrounded by beautiful red walls. At the pool side there are enough deck chairs for all the guests. The only downside was the poor wifi connection. We did not have wifi in the room - so we always went to 2 hot spots in the courtyard and at the door to the swimming pool. This is our first B&B where the rooms are cleaned everyday for such a short stay - beds made, floor swiped, rubbish bins empty. It just made our stay pleasant and comfortable. <Breakfast> The breakfast was great! There are choices for everyone - from small children to senior, people with food allergy, vegetarian and vegans. A wide selection of various home baked cakes and local specialties decorated the breakfast buffet. One day a Sicilian Ricotta cake, next day a blueberry cheese cake. The seasonal fruits are delicious, and Frisella (stale bread) with chopped tomatoes and rucola was our favourite.

The three star hotel and restaurant are situated in the old town of Spongano/Salento/Puglia. The hotel is built on original foundations dating from the early eigthteenth century. The nearest airport is Brindisi which is used by an economy airline and it is approximately one and a half hour’s drive to Spongano.ROOMSAlthough the town and surrounding area is steeped in antiquity, the rooms are a complete contrast as they are elegantly furnished with all modern facilities, including air conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV and Internet connection.
Just what I needed
Reviewed By tigernymphI flew to Brindisi and then got the train to Lecce and local trains to Spongano. I was glad the hotel was walking distance from the train station as I was tired but I was welcomed and shown my room. It was spotlessly clean and a very large comfortable bed. The lady owner was very helpful telling me where I could eat on a Sunday and I chose the local pizzeria. The breakfast the following morning provided a lovely selection and a chance to practice my Italian and no rush to leave. I felt the room and breakfast was good value for money and it was in a lovely garden.

Perfect stay in typical Italian old town
Reviewed By Anouk S SVery clean and cosy little B&B. Owner is friendly and thoughtful. Since the bar on the (near by) main square is also property of the owner the breakfast is served over there. Spongano is near the coast, which makes this a perfect location for a summer holiday and will be a cheaper option than the B&B's in along the coast.

Reviewed By 8080_VERA_Abbiamo soggiornato per 15 giorni, Un posto incantevole nel cuore di Spongano. Appartamento (verde) ben curato in ogni minimo dettaglio, dotato di tutto il necessario. Piscina disponibile in qualsiasi momento della giornata, Luogo ideale per trascorrere momenti di relax dopo una giornata di mare. Il residence è situato in un punto strategico per visitare le varie spiagge, calette e città del Salento. Un ringraziamento particolare a Giancarlo per la sua accoglienza, sempre premuroso e attento alle esigenze dei clienti. Assolutamente consigliato e dopo questa meravigliosa vacanza ci torneremo sicuramente! A presto Fam. Fumagalli.
