This is not the best pub with rooms in Long Whatton. First the good, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location is very pretty and easy to find. Unfortunately there are many niggles. When I arrived my room was like a sauna, the heating had been left on full, I had asked for a double room but was given a twin. When I brought this all up with the staff they said another room was available and was a double. I checked this room out and in fact it was another twin. There were nice touches in the room, fresh milk and juice in the fridge, however there were no tea bags of any kind, again easily sorted. My evening meal was ok, the wine I had requested was not available and some of the food was not at its best. I asked to see the dessert menu but it never arrived. As I was packing up to leave the cleaner was knocking on my door even though it was not check out time. This is not a bad place to eat or stay but could be so much better with a lick of paint and the few niggles sorted out.

Fabulous!

Enjoyed two nights here while visiting the Grand Central Railway which is a short walk away. Lez and Derek are fantastic hosts. The house is very unique and full of interesting antiques and collectables. There's so much to look at. The breakfast was super, the room was fine and the bed very comfortable and there's on site parking as well. A great B&B!

The Royal Oak

A chic village gastropub with rooms, located 3.1 miles from East Midlands Airport, 4.6 miles off the M1 motorway and 5.3 miles from the Great Central Railway. The contemporary rooms have en suite shower rooms with luxury toiletries, as well as 32-inch flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities, mini fridges and the superior room has extra space and a sofa area. A full English or continental breakfast is included, while an upscale modern British menu is served in the rustic-chic pub, which has exposed brick details, beamed ceilings and fireplaces.

Good value; attentive service

We stayed for three nights. The room was comfortable with all the amenities you'd expect, including a good WiFi connection. The food was exceptional, far better than we were expecting. One small niggle: the shower floor was like an ice rink. Take care. If we are in the area again we'd definitely stay at The Royal Oak.

⋆✭♡⁑ A lucky find ⁑♡✭⋆ I can not recommend the Manor House enough! I called on the Tuesday for a last minute room as my husbands work is in the area, and there was only one room left but as I was desperate they did us a fantastic deal, hotel room, breakfast & parking is excellent value. Phil showed us to our room even though he was rushed off his feet and even carried my case. He and his great team of staff in a busy bar / restaurant looked after us then while we dined in the restaurant. The food was spectacular, except for the lamb which was too chewy for me and without a breath of hesitation one of the staff offered sincere apology, deducted it from the bill and offered something else. The rest of the meal was incredible. The room…. OMG the room! So luxurious with an immense roll top cast iron bath! Comfy bed, lots of room and a stylish bathroom and shower. And THEN the breakfast was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a hotel. All local and top quality. Last but certainly not least - late checkout at 12 afforded me the luxury of laying in the bath on a Saturday morning listening to the children in the field behind play rugby and cheer while the old fashioned train chugged past - it was like something out of an Enid Blighton novel. Every single member of staff has a smile and is keen to do what they can. Loved it so much that they are full tonight so had to find somewhere else but will be back on Sunday.

The Peacock Inn

Don’t bother

My god, where do I start? Booked this establishment based on it photos online and close location to where we were going later that day. Got there and the barmaid directed us to our room. The 1 star is purely based on her. The room was to the back of the pub through an open, unlocked gate to the beer garden . We were told that this would remain open which posed a security risk. We went into the room and I don’t know when the photos from the website were taken but these did not resemble our room at all. The room we were shown had visible stains over the bedding, this was also old based on the bobberly appearance of the pillows. The bathroom was unclean, moldy, old fashioned and the shower curtain looked like it had been there for years. Sleeping in the car was truly a better option. We stayed in the room for 3 mins (not long enough to take any photos) and then decided to leave and not return. The booking was cancelled within an hour of arriving. Walking around the immediate area there were drunks and druggies and a police presence. There is nothing I would recommend about this place.
