Castle Köingstein, the park and immediate surroundings are well worth a visit. The padestrain zone was spectacular full of flower boxes on most of the old Tudor type buildings and absolutely spotlessly clean. We arrived with the Oma just after lunch it was like a ghost town, but typical Germany mid afternoon the town centre was packed especially the ice cream parlours and cafe's. Left the Oma with a coffee (she's 94) and would have climbed to the Burg if we'd let her ????. The Burg exterior walls are clearly in tact but the interior is in some areas almost gone. We loved the castle a good 10 minute steady climb to the top of the hill...well worth the climb to take in the panoramic scenery...it was a perfectly dry, clear, bright and sunny day so we could see for miles. Highly recommended for all the family whether young or old...but not to old.

This pool is great, especially at night, when one can view the Konigstein castle illuminated from the outdoor section of the pool. Call to make sure it’s open if traveling end Nov or Dec 2019, as they will be doing some renovations. I have been going to this indoor/outdoor pool for years, and it is one of my favorite pools anywhere-especially due to the magnificent view at night and the fact that they keep the outdoor portion so nice and warm that one can swim in it even in winter and really have an awesome experience!
