The Kaposvar Spa is a complex of thermal baths, saunas, massage facilities, outdoor pools, jacuzzis, shallow pools for kids, a few not-too tall slides, and a beach. It has a buffet inside where you can purchase drinks, sandwiches, and in the summer season when the open air pools are working there are several food facilities outside serving burgers, hot dog, simple dishes.
The place is not pricy, even on an average Hungarian budget. If you are from the West of Europe, or the U.S. you will find it an excellent deal: entrance fees for a full day are around 8 USD, 6 EUR, or 5 GBP. Food items are usually around 1,5-3 GBP. There is also a shop selling bathing suits, towels, swimming goggles, etc. in case you have left anything at home.
The place is well staffed. Members of staff speak some level of English and German in general, and they are polite, not intrusive.
My mom who had some joint problems with her shoulder found that the thermal baths and jacuzzis, and the massage, were very beneficial to her condition. I enjoy the saunas (especially the aroma therapies, and the really hot saunas), and the deep pool for swimming. Refreshing place to relax and have a nice day out.

9km south of Kaposvar in the beautiful Zselic area, the village of Szenna has the best open air museum in Hungary other than the huge musuem at Szentendre. The museum has a collection of village houses and buildings from past centuries, arranged as they might have been originally.
Note that the entrance fee (600HUF) can only be paid in cash.
Available activities (which may need prebooking- see http://www.smmi.hu/szenna/foglalkozasok.html) are Felting, Pottery, Woodcarving, Beading and Silk painting.

We've been here twice already. This is THE place to take your kids, no matter if it's sunny or rainy (though they are not open all the time in winter). We always spent around 3 hours here, but that's barely enough to try a bit of everything. You can leisurely plan a whole day here. There's an indoor playground with huge, 2 floor, slides and playrooms. You can also play foot billiards or shoot air cannons in another building. Outdoors there's a covered petting zoo, a miniature wooden castle, tractors to ride, sand-play facilities, carts, jumping hills, water fun for kids, mazes etc etc. You also have a restaurant, a camping site, picnic facilities. They also regularly organize workshops, you can watch the cows being milked, bread being baked... And they just constantly introduce new fun things. Did I mention that they also speak English at the reception and you can pay with a card? What more can you ask for, both for kids and parents?! It can't get more family-friendly than this.

Pleasant square in the middle of Kaposvar.
Interesting contrast - three sides surrounded by old buildings including a church and Fountains, the final side is a concrete 4 story hotel - architecturally this appears to date from the Communist era and is so different to the rest of the square.
The Fountains dominate, .in both the square and in one of the adjoining streets. They really are delightful, and add greatly to the ambiance. Those in the centre are not merely constant, but put on a repeating display.
Cafés and ice cream stalls can be found in the nearby streets. Pleasant place to sit and watch the world.

Despite the papal yellow of the exterior, the inside is very dark. While the front door is open in daylight hours, iron gates prohibit access to the three side altar as well as viewing the details of the main altar, except during services. And the lights used for the altar during Mass come on about a minute before the celebrant enters, and go out before the recessional organ work is finished.
Bring a tripod for photos in the low light environment.
There are some nice stained glass windows. It is a simple church without the gilding of the older cathedrals in large cities.

Spent almost the entire day there so the kids lived it. They clearly take pride in their facility as there is a lot invested in it. It is like a gigantic McDonald's play place. The ball canons don't really work that well. The forklift only goes up and down and side to side - probably due to some leaking air hoses. The dual monitor racing video game only works with one monitor. But the slide was a lot of fun. The trampoline needs a bigger bounce. And the petting zoo could use a clean up but the people were super nice. Hamburgers were wet and sloppy.
