National Memorial of Eavesdropping

Reviewed By Zuzka123 - Bratislava, Slovakia

The National Monument of Eavesdropping refers to three reliefs carved into rocks in the flooded quarries near Lipnice nad Sazavou. There are located in the woods not far from each other along a signposted foot path, which is a few kilometres long. There are three reliefs: Bretschneider's ear, Mouth of Truth and Golden Eyes. In 2013, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Jaroslav Hašek, the fourth part of the memorial was added - Catch 22 referring to Joseph Heller's novel of the same name (called Head XXII in Czech).
The starting point is on the main square in Lipnice, where you can learn more about the monuments as well as see the map and the routes. The walking path is clearly signposted using red, blue, yellow and green signs.

Visited July 2017 and surprised that the admission was just 30 CZK (=1 EUR). The nature exhibit shows beautiful photos. In the basement is a copy of ancient egyptian tombs as well as aircraft archeology - the story of Pe-2 shot down by the accident. You can see some fragments of the aircraft. Upstairs is an exhibition of Karel Havlíček Borovský, famous Czech writer that was persecuted in the 19th century because of his work.

Statni hrad Lipnice

Reviewed By Wenovo - Morris County, New Jersey

We drove to the castle after visiting the town of Telc, but got a little lost because the GPS in the car did not take road construction into consideration. We arrived too late to enter the castle, but managed to climb up the hill and were rewarded by the beautiful views of the country side. Understandably, we were the only visitors and it felt good having the whole place around the castle to ourselves. We unwrapped our picnic basket, took loads of pictures and not all was lost after all.
