Balnea

Reviewed By Vacationgirl09 - Montreal, Canada

My boyfriend and I took a drive from Montreal to Balnea. A spa tucked away into an expansive lakeside forest escape. The grounds are beautifully kept and manicured. There are breathtaking lake views from the thermal baths. The facilities are very clean, and staff were very attentive. Someone took my boyfriend’s robe by mistake and a staff member replaced it with a smile and no questions asked! Staff were also great about maintaining a quiet and peaceful atmosphere at the spa. We took a short walk to the lake, roasted marshmallows by an open fire and relaxed in the wet and dry saunas. It was certainly worth the trip. Ps. Parking is limited close to the entrance so be prepared for a short walk.

Definitely the best spa I've ever been in the past few years. The staff is friendly and the installations are rustic and well equipped. We feel the nature vibe and the view is superb.

We took a nice long walk around this point which is right next to downtown. It is well equipped with playground structures for children, public washrooms and a restaurant. You get a wonderful view of Mont Orford which is across the bay.

I went here as a holiday-weekend day trip (from Montreal) with a friend. The spa was quite busy due to the holiday, with quite a few people in the pools, and yet the environment still seemed peaceful and relaxing. We had a great time. The massage was excellent, with a truly skilled massage therapist who communicated effectively with me even though I do not speak French. The receptionists were bilingual and very welcoming, and the whole spa area was well maintained, clean, and secure. The hammocks by the river during the fall foliage season were really a treat, and this is a great choice for an easy and relaxing "getaway" from Montreal. Our only recommendation would be to bring your own lunch. The café area has only a small selection of prepared food and is nothing to get excited about. There are nice areas both outside and inside to enjoy a picnic you bring along. You don't need to make a reservation in advance to go use the pools, but you should call ahead to arrange any treatments such as massage.
