Imagine Gallery

The gallery is light and airy and has a fabulous collection displaying contemporary artists covering both paintings, ceramics, jewellery and sculpture. You could see the owners not only worked hard but also enjoyed giving a lucky public the opportunity to see a very good selection of work with a nice variety of prices.

The Famous Old House Gallery of Long Melford is housed in a wonderful timber-framed building dating back around 500 years. The grade II listed property has been carefully restored and upgraded to create a stunning setting for fine paintings, bronze sculpture and other unique and distinctive works of art from around the world. British fine art is typically represented by highly regarded and collectable artists such as Edward Seago, Sidney Richard Percy, Cecil Kennedy, Edgar Hunt, Sir Alfred Munnings, Sir Edward John Poynter, Edward Ladell, Sir John Alfred Arnesby Brown, Campbell Mellon, Heywood Hardy, Donald Currie Grant and local Suffolk artist Clive Madgwick. The French artists include Edouard Leon Cortes, Eugene Galien-Laloue, Antoine Bouvard, Antoine Blanchard, Marcel Dyf and many others. Outside London, this high quality gallery is clearly a must see for the discerning art buyer, however, appointments are advisable to avoid the disappointment of arriving and we may not be open.

This is an antiques centre that justifies its name - for every "collectable" of which there is both variety and quality, there are at least 200 items of antique(over 100 years old so I was taught) furniture/glass/silver/jewellery and china - plenty of things for under £50 as well as ones for four figures. We have bought many things there, the cheapest £100, the most expensive £2,200 and love them all including the prices we paid! And you can check out if it's of interest to you on-line. The "virtual tour" on their website shows all the stands and thousands of items of stock - all looking pristine and inviting. But if it's a cup of tea + scone + bric-a-brac you are after, maybe not for you
