7 Museums in Sogong-dong That You Shouldn't Miss

January 7, 2022 Jana Sager

Seoul is the business and cultural hub of South Korea, where skyscrapers tower over Buddhist temples. Take it all in from the N Seoul Tower, built atop a peak in Namsan Park. The teahouses and shops of Insadong give you a taste of Korean flavor, which you can further experience with a visit to the grounds and museums of Gyeongbokgung. UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeokgung Palace is a fine example of authentic ancient architecture.

National Museum of Art, Deoksugung

This particular Museum is presented twice in Trip Advisor therefor to avoid confusions I'll basically copy and paste on the other search to keep our travelers equally and consistently informed that these two findings are intrinsically the same place. To begin I'll have to say that the museum is conveniently allocated inside the premises of the Deoksugung Palace. Once you are at the ticket vendor you will be given the choices of buying only to see the palace or the full package including the museum. I suggest for the lovers of modern art as ourselves to purchase the full package. You will find the museum as we show in the pictures in front of a beautiful European looking Turquoise Fountain. (as a reference point). The museum itself on the outside looks like a German or Austrian Museum (in regards to architecture). Inside the museum is filled with interesting modern pieces (on a special room) from diverse artist (foreign and domestic). The place is well kept but strangely the most of the exhibition is based on antique pieces. Very beautiful ones I might say. Maybe we came on a moment when the Contemporary Art pieces are not in exhibit, but nonetheless during our stay it was filled with exquisite paintings over silk and several old publications that are definitely worth a 100% seeing. We do recommend this place profusely as a place to wine-down after the long walks in the palace premises and to admire the true art history of this country. (please remember this same review is made under: MMCA - National Museum of Contemporary Art, Deoksugung (they are basically the same place).
