The Hotel Erato is situated in Gournes Pediado’s, just 15 km east of Heraklion-Crete. It is built in traditional Cretan style and it is in 2020 renovated. The hotel offers not only Cretan hospitality and warmth but also very good quality of service, can provide people who seek for quietness and serenity a unique experience. The number of repeaters of the hotel and friends of the family is the proof of the success of the host family. Because of its general location Erato hotel gives its guests the possibility to reach all destinations very easy and quickly. Only 500 m away from the hotel is the D. E. K. K. (International Exhibition Center of Crete) situated due to which the hotel remains open during the wintertime, as well as the biggest Aquarium of the Balkans. Moreover, the hotel is situated only a few meters away from the Village Center, where there are cafes, bars, tavernas, restaurants and shops. If you are looking for more fun, Chersonissos, which is a town with numerous bars and discos, is only 10 minutes drive from the hotel. There is regular bus service to Chersonissos, Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion. Reviewed By aurinijapHotel is very cosy and perfect for couples. It is not far from the beach and the bus stop to Heraklion is on the other side of the hotel. Staff is friendly and manager Maria is a blessing to the soul-she fulfilled all our desires in no time. Barman Yanis was amazing-so patient woth our countless orders of beer! Rooms are cleaned daily and A/C is also there. Food is good and you can get several variations every evening. Hotel is keeping all regulations during pandemic. We had an amazing time!

Huge disappointment
Reviewed By junejulesMy family and I had planned on staying here for a week, but after the first night, we were very disappointed. The hotel was not at all what we had expected, the hotel was dirty and wasn't kept well - We found mold and rust in the shower and the sink was dirty. We were told that it was only a short walk to the beach, but we walked past abandoned buildings, through the grass and found something you can barely call a beach, there were chairs, bottles, plastic bags, leftover food and the whole place was trashed. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cosy family vacation with your kids or if you want to go explore the city, and we could barely find a parking spot without bumping our car into anything. The location of the hotel was far from the airport and a nice city, we had to use our car to get around if we didn't want to listen to trucks and planes all the time. The staff was nice, but when we informed the hotel that we were moving to another hotel in their chain, we didn't get our money back but had to pay double. We had hoped that we would've gotten our money back for all the nights we didn't sleep at Vasia "Royal".

Nostalgic Trip to Iraklion Air Station, Gournes, Crete

It is near everything we wanted, old Air Force Base, beaches, local mountain, new highway, old highway, and there were lots of taverna options. The owner (Yiorgos) and everyone else at the property were very friendly and welcoming. The room had everything we needed and all our requests (extra pillows, late checkout) were granted making it a very pleasant experience. I heartily recommend it.

Kri-Kri Village Holiday Apartments is located near the village of Gournes, just 80 metres from the beach. It has a swimming pool and offers accommodation with sea or pool views. Studios and apartments at Kri-Kri Village are simply furnished and open out to a balcony or patio. Each features a kitchenette with refrigerator and a dining area. Other facilities include air conditioning, a TV and a private bathroom with shower. Sun beds and umbrellas are available at the swimming pool area. Guests can also enjoy a refreshing drink or cocktail at the poolside bar. The city of Heraklion is 16 km away from the hotel. The lively town of Hersonissos offering many nightlife options is within a 30-minute drive. Free Wi-Fi access and free public parking are available.

Reviewed By K9551PGchMy goal in visiting Gournes was to volunteer at the Gouves dog and cat shelter for a week. I had asked if they could recommend local accommodation and they suggested the KriKri Apartments. The recommendation turned out to be an excellent one. My initial contact was through Jenny, who responded promptly to my email and offered a good rate for the week. I was a little anxious about arriving so late at night (Easyjet) but when I got to the apartments George was there, welcoming and hospitable showed me my room and then, at my request for some food, rustled up a beautiful salad with bread and a beer, not too shabby for an 11pm guest! The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable and I felt very relaxed there for the week. Jenny provided a custom breakfast on most of the days I stayed there and also made the best pot of tea that I have ever drunk in Greece! You Brits KNOW how we like our tea! On my first morning Jenny also arranged bicycle hire for me at a very good rate and the bike was delivered withing 30 minutes! The sea is a one minute walk from the apartments and there are lovely little beaches a short walk away that are safe to paddle in and swim. There are also many small restaurants and cafes within walking distance. An additional pleasure for me were the dogs, German Shepherds, Mama Sara and sons Kobi and Jack, sweet dogs, well-controlled by the owners with the option to pet and play with the dogs if you are comfortable. A tiny drawback was that the wifi did not extend to the inside of the apartments but it was accessible outside of the rooms, sitting on the porch, and also inside the lobby area. Jenny says that she is working on getting a wifi booster and expects that to happen soon. I definitely recommend KriKri as a place to stay and I will return there myself. Jenny and George and their son Canstantino were warm and charming hosts.

Great place to stay close to Iraklion
Reviewed By 668jukkasVilla Chantaloukas has friendly host, good breakfast, simply excellent dinner and good overall atmosphere. Rooms are cozy, spacy and clean. In this place you feel welcome all the time. It is out of hectic city/beach life, though close to sea. If some distance to major sights/cities/entertainment does not bother, I highly recommend. Been there twice, will come back!

We didn't stay at these apartments but we were lost because our transfer bus dropped us at the wrong place. After walking around for some time dragging our suitcases we called in to see if they knew where our hotel was located. The gentleman called the lady and they telephoned our hotel and asked someone to come and get us. They were so kind .Genuinely good people.Thank you so much.
