Was given tasting kit and tour for Christmas. Brilliantly well presented live on Zoom, great hosts, showed you how to make Bramble cocktail and several other drinks from the miniatures provided in pack (Vodka, sloe Gin, Marmalade Gin, Pink Grapefruit and GB Gin, two bottles of Fevertree tonic) and gave guided tour and talk. Great for a party and fun interaction - done really well during COVID lockdown and much needed relief!

Monkland Cheese Dairy

Reviewed By MelFinch - Derby, United Kingdom

Staying in Ludlow for a few days, and did a walk at NT Berrington Hall in the morning. Monkdale Cheese Dairy popped up with excellent tripadvisor reviews, so as it was raining almost non-stop we decided not to go and hunt around unfamiliar Leominster and booked a table earlier in the morning for lunch. In fact we didn’t need to book, very pleasant light and airy upstairs room (and outdoor tables if sunny). Excellent ploughman’s lunches, one ham one blue cheese so we could mix and match, and good range of soft drinks. Fantastic cheeses, cakes, pickles, biscuits, etc on sale in shop, and both that and the café were quite busy on a miserable day, promptly served by friendly staff. After lunch we dived back out into the rain, well nourished!

The Weir Garden

Reviewed By theeps2018 - Lampeter, United Kingdom

With the sun shining this is a place well worth visiting. With two main paths through the gardens the upper path is through woods and passes the toilets and tea tent before dropping down to the River Wye and a natural play area (so good for kids). The lower path comes back down the side of the river, often with canoes passing by. There are many places to just sit quietly and enjoy the view of the river. There is also good signage explaining the varieties of trees. Outside the entrance and across some grassland, with picnic tables, is the walled garden which has been fully restored since 2009.

Ye Old Ferrie Inn

Reviewed By 488petem - Billericay, United Kingdom

My girlfriend booked this place as a surprise weekend away and it was absolutely superb. As everyone says... Jamie and his staff are fantastic, the friendliest and most helpful you'll meet! The room we had was reasonably sized for for an old ferry Inn of a few hundred years! With recently decorated bathroom and electric shower. The views looking up and down the river are incredible and we had a very peaceful stay. As others state there's a hand ferry you can take to cross the river, "powered" by one of the bar staff when needed and we took this to go canoeing from a place near the Saracen's Head which is across and down the river. On the subject of the Saracen's Head... This is the place that everyone you talk to (when researching Symonds Yat) recommends... But it's very busy and noisy with a constant stream of cars... If you're looking for a constant buzz, noise and throng of many people then please go to the Saracen's head! And leave the peace and tranquility of the Old Ferrie Inne to the rest of us! We've ready booked to return here later in the year... Highlt recommended

A very interesting and historically important collection of machinery and equipment related to clean water supply. It was a thrill for me to see the UK's oldest triple expansion steam engine working and next to it a beam engine , beautifully preserved and presented. All other exhibits interesting, varied and great to see many of them operating. Lots of information provided about each exhibit and there are "hands on" demonstration models as well which all make it very educational. The volunteer staff were friendly and were happy to answer my questions. And on my visit, the museums exhibitions were supplemented by a lovely display of engines and vintage vehicles provided by the Hereford and District preservation society. I think the UK is unique in the amount of heritage (of all types) it has preserved and accessible to the public. And this working museum is a fine example of that trend. Very good value for money as well.
