7 Cultural Tours in Regensburg That You Shouldn't Miss

May 1, 2022 Tonie Szymanski

Founded by the Romans in 179 AD as Casta Regina (meaning Fortress by the River Regen), Regensburg is one of Germany's oldest towns. It was relatively spared from Allied bombings during World War II. Today, many flock to see the wonderfully intact old city and its many medieval structures. The 12th-century Stone Bridge was used by Crusaders en route to the Holy Land. The Regensburg Cathedral (or Dom St. Peter) is one of southern Germany's finest examples of Gothic architecture.

At first, I'm hesitant to avail the services of Sidetriptours as I'm travelling alone but because of the patient and so accommodating customer service (Thank you Triin ????), I tried it and discovered that it's incredibly fun and memorable trip as I was able to look in on places which supposedly impossible if I travelled by trai, and at the same time I have this opportunity to meet and mingle people of different nationalities. Since I'm alone, I have the chance to ask them to take a photo of me as my remembrance of the places we've visited. #freephotographer ???????????????? Actually, it's an AMAZING transfer from Prague to Vienna together with our kind tourist guide/driver named Jacob. All the side tour trippers were able to enjoy the trip as Jacob briefed us with the history, stories and some legends of the places that we've visited. We were able to visit the famous Kutna Hora underground chapel decorated with "thousands" of human skeletons and a chandelier in the center designed of human skulls/skeletons. It's creepy but a masterpiece of someone's brave soul. During the trip, you'll not get bored as you will have stop overs with the tourist spots such as the magnificent Cathedrals of Kutna Hora and Brno (and lunch within the vicinity of Freedom Square), and Mikulov Palace. In case you want to add some spice with your Europe transfers, I highly recommend you go with Sidetriptours. It's a transfer without a waste of your day. ???? #sidetriptours #amazing #noregrets #solotraveller #grateful #satisfied #tillnextTime

Martin Luther is NOT the same historical figure as MARTIN LUTHER KING Jr. Germany is not the same nation as the US. Martin Luther was the great GERMAN reformer of the 1500s. Martin Luther King Jr. was the great civil rights American reformer of the 1960s. I keep trying to help this organization, but they don't seem to worry about trivia like historical facts.

The tour is generally supported by local guides or myself. Meet the guide for a 2- or 3-hour tour through the city’s Old Town. See beautiful timber-framed houses and cobblestone streets. See the picturesque past from the medieval era. Learn about the German Renaissance and the artists from this city. On rainy days I offer an alternative Tour with more inside visits. During a train ride to Regensburg, with a typical landscape from this region, I speak about medieval towns, social rules and living in the middle age. My program includes: - Complete support with information about the city and local shops - Two (till three) hour free time - etc.

Inclusions: 3 hours free time, City Map, Restroom on board

We did an excellent tour with our guide Paul. We are glad that we did it. He is an excellent knowledgeable guide, very caring and a lovely person. We visited St. Peter's Church, Platzl an der Orlandostrasse, Bayerische Staatsoper, U-Bahn to Odeonsplatz etc with him. He was very nice to us during our entire visit, patience as a guide should be, explaining history of each place along with some fun. If we ever visit Munich again, we shall hire Paul. Highly recommended.
