Lovely little hotel

Reviewed By JoP1968

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a family wedding in Barkisland. We booked 4 rooms. The hotel is lovely- we had a big room with en-suite with a bath. Check-in was quick and easy. There is a free car park just behind the hotel which is handy. The staff are lovely. The bed was comfy. Only thing that I can complain about is the breakfast during weekdays, it is a continental breakfast which they leave in a basket outside your room door. There was a chocolate croissant, yoghurt, pot of porridge, 2 pieces of fruit and a bottle of orange juice, however, there was only enough for one person not two as they had made a mistake on our room, so we went out and found a sandwich shop which is just located over the road at the traffic lights. The breakfast on the Saturday was lovely and served from 10 am which is fab when you want a lie in, good choice. Would highly recommend!

Pleasant room set aside for our group of 10.variety of dishes on menu.some meals were on the small side for the price.most desserts were appreciated except the crumble of the day came without any crumble and not value for money. Staff were very pleasant.venue went down well with everyone but more variety of meals and daily specials would be appreciated.mrals a little overpriced for just general get-together togethers.but still a pleasant venue to return again

Arriving, we thought we had made a mistake as we drove up the steep hill to find our B&B. However we were happy to find we were wrong. I was so impressed with the Rushcart. The staff were so welcoming and happy to serve. The room was really nice and well presented. The beers and food top quality And the location set in a beautiful landscape overlooking Sowerby Bridge. Well worth the price and the hill. I would recommend choosing nowhere else if this is your destination its perfect.

Visited hear with my partner and infant for breakfast, food was delicious and tasty very fresh and the timing was spot on, not to long and not too soon. Staff were friendly and helpful, very clean and tidy place with wonderful scenery, very quite and secluded. Highly recommend to anyone and we will definitely be visiting again for lunch or evening meal.

New Hobbit Hotel, by Best Western

The New Hobbit Country Inn and Dining is situated with a pleasant view above Sowerby Bridge and local moors. With a rich history this venue has grown from a pub in the 1900’s to now a 30 bedroom hotel offering vintage and new modern rooms.

Nice enough hotel but they knew there was an issue with the room before putting us in there.

The room was relatively basic but didn’t need anything else so this was fine for a nights stay. Room was clean, decent shower and big enough bed. We used the restaurant downstairs. Food was tasty but abit disappointed with ordering a £15 pie meal. Was literally a small size pie and abit of mash. No veg. So that was abit of a shame for me. The main issue I have is no sleep. When we checked in to room 16 approx 3.30pm, the heating was on full blast. The radiator was that hot, I couldn’t touch it. I thought it might go off later although it was very uncomfortable. 10pm came and I was so hot in the room. We had the fan on and the 2 small windows wide open. We Couldn’t draw the curtains because we were scared of the fabric touching the hot radiator and also needed to let the little air into the room. 10pm - I nipped downstairs to ask for the heating to be turned off because there isn’t a thermostat that I could do it myself. The lady said she would turn off the boiler. (Which was odd because the radiators on the landing weren’t on. Only our room) The next morning - I mentioned it to the man on the desk when we were paying. He was very polite and apologised but I think his response took us back. He picked up the broken thermostat next to his computer and said they know there is an issue in room 16!!! I am so upset with this.. All night, we were so hot. I can’t explain how uncomfortable it was. We barely slept. This hotel put us in a room, knowing the heating was stuck on an extremely high temperature. As someone who suffers with asthma, I have struggled today (day of checking out) with the lack of sleep and breathing difficulties. I was paying for the room at this time that the man on the desk was showing me this broken thermostat. What might have been a kind gesture other than an apology, is knock a tenner off the bill or pass over a bottle of wine or something. Just anything to say, sorry. That’s what I think would have potentially put it right or acknowledging the issue. I am certainly not looking to not pay for the room, but it was totally unfair, uncomfortable and disappointing. Positive note, room 16 has a beautiful view. Would still recommend staying at the hotel but NOT room 16 until they fix the heating and perhaps some learnings in how to appease and very valid complaint. Just my honest review. Thanks

The Bull on the Bridge Hotel

Filthy!!!

Reviewed By 770fayd

Absolutely disgusting place. Filthiest place I've ever stayed in. Sorry I don't know how they get away with it!! They don't serve breakfast that's fair enough. So there's a cafe next door. Only they don't have any seating so they sit you on the pub tables it's right beside the bull. Full of fag ends empty glasses from the night before and they don't even clean up for you!!
