6 Top-Rated Cottages in Ko Pha Ngan, Surat Thani Province

May 12, 2023 Myesha Cogley

We're guessing they don't have a werewolf problem in Koh Phangan, because every month on the full moon, thousands of people take part in the Full Moon Party's all-night festivities, including music on the beach. By day, you'll find a lovely island with coconut trees and plenty of sandy white beaches. If you're a diver, visit Sailrock for a spectacular wall dive.

Unhelpful staff and refused to honor listed prices

Reviewed By T5004OXwilliamb

I attempted to book a room from October 2021 through May 2021 and was told they had no interest in booking rooms in advance as they were waiting to see what happens if the country reopens. While I understand if the country reopens to tourism they can increase their rates it seems a poor business practice to refuse to book rooms at their listed price. Their ad on Facebook marketplace is very clear about the room options and prices being offered and does not mention any expiration date for those prices. However the woman I spoke to refused to rent me a room even after I offered a deposit upfront to secure my room for an eight month stay. She didn’t even bother to offer an alternative rate or make any attempt whatsoever to accommodate my request to book a stay with them other than to say I could book at their regular rates on Booking.com. If you advertise a price then you should honor the price or you should clarify that those prices have an expiration date. Just my humble opinion but I wouldn’t choose to do business with these people given their questionable business practices and their very poor customer service

They Seem To Have A Problem Understanding How A Reservation Is Supposed To Work.

Reviewed By Seaside48647899905

Where do I even begin with this nightmare experience? Well, it seem The House of Sanskara has a problem with honoring confirmed reservations. I was staying in a perfectly fine accommodation on Koh Phangan but decided to look for something with a direct oceanfront view for a reasonable price. I went to Booking.com and did an extensive search and found an available Oceanfront Bungalow for a very reasonable price for 3 nights. I reserved the bungalow at around 9AM on the same day I was going to be checking in. I gave up my very clean and inexpensive accommodation, called for a taxi, and 4 hours later I took the 30 minute taxi ride to House of Sanskara. I knew something was wrong the second I gave the front desk clerk my passport because she asked me to wait a moment and went to speak with a person I can only assume was a manager. The manager came over and told me that they did not have the oceanfront bungalow I had reserved 4 hours earlier and he offered me an inferior bungalow with a view of the back of one of the oceanfront bungalows I was supposed to have. Here's the problem: House of Sanskara is a very old and not very well maintained property. The only reason I was willing to tolerate such an accommodation was because of the Oceanview. Without the Oceanview, you're just staying in an outdated property that's seen better days. Of course they were apologetic and in the interest of full disclosure, they did give me 500 Thai baht (14.88 US dollars) to cover my taxi fare back. Here's the problem; I was unable to go back to the place where I was staying because the room had already been rented and they had nothing else available for 5 more days. I was left with no accommodation and having to scramble around trying to find something clean, safe and reasonably priced with air conditioning. The manager was full of excuses for why this happened and tried to blame everything from the short notice of the reservation to Booking.com, but they had 4 hours notice of this reservation and had they simply checked their email they would have seen the booking and been able to notify me by phone or email or text before I gave up my accommodation and packed all my things up and took a taxi all the way over there. My advice to anyone booking into this place is to have a backup hotel booked and call them to verify you actually have a room to go to when you arrive. Side note: If you are going to Haad Rin, please be advised that the beach there is full of garbage that has washed up on shore. The entire length of the beach has a strip of seaweed mixed with every kind of garbage imaginable. It is completely disgusting. This statement has nothing to do with my poor experience with House of Sanskara. It is a fact easily verifiable by going to YouTube and searching Garbage at Haad Rin Beach.

Kawarin Secret Hut

Good stay for the outdoorsy type!

Reviewed By Aimee9333

We stayed for the full moon party, and for the price it was what was expected. It was a little hut up a pretty big hill (prepare to get fit and fast!) , wooden with slight holes, so expect to see some of the jungles animals and bugs, especially some pretty big lizards! Pros - amazing family hosts, very friendly atmosphere, secluded and quiet, great view, great experience, easy to get to and around by scooter Cons - could be cleaner but due to the type of hut I'm not sure how clean they can get it with stuff blowing in, water was a bit iffy, as well as the wifi not reaching the rooms majority of the time, taxis not dropping you near the place if they know it at all. Ps. If you're coming back late at night by taxi I would pay the extra for them to drive you up to the place. There are a lot of stray dogs and at 5am after the full moon we very closely got attacked by a few different packs of dogs - good job we had previously made friends with a little black and beige dog who literally saved us!!
