Tucked away in Eupen, Belgium is this family run chocolate museum. Most is done by machines now but there are still staff working on various lines. The museum is full of interesting relics and information. The upstairs is a glass panelled walk way so you can look down into the production area of chocolate bars being made and packed. There is a shop that you can buy various chocolates and chocolate bars at factory prices and also broken bars. We bought a kilo of broken hazelnut bars for 1 euro, bargain.

Cultural Centre Alter Schlachthof

About the cultural centre: Since its opening in 2015, the cultural centre Alter Schlachthof Eupen has been perceived as a lighthouse for art and culture in various disciplines such as music, theatre, dance, literature and the visual arts. But the regional function is also extremely important. The Alter Schlachthof offers regional well-known but also unknown artists space for their art. People of all ages and cultural background have the possibility to meet each other there. History: The Alter Schlachthof was built between 1901 and 1903 in the Prussian industrial style of the Gründerzeit and served as an urban slaughterhouse until 1991. Under the supervision of the architect Daniel Dethier from Liège, the decommissioned slaughterhouse gradually turned into a cultural centre as we know it today. Nowadays, more than 150 events per year take place in the cultural center.
