Bateman's

Bateman's is a beautiful old sandstone house surrounded rolling Sussex countryside and was home to one of the greatest writers of our time, Rudyard Kipling. Soak up the atmosphere of Kipling's study and enjoy the serenity of the formal garden. Experience the valley which influenced many of Kipling's poems and stories. Open all year round.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Bateman's, the house of Rudyard Kipling and to see all the drawings and alphabet necklace from The Jungle Book was great. The house itself is very interesting and the grounds are just lovely. If you are lucky, you will see the working Watermill at the bottom of the garden and the chickens that roam free, a really beautiful setting.
