We bring Australians here because out nation is blessed with outdoor locations and this oasis just outside of Amman is perfect respite for them from the busy “white city.” The owners seem to have put an abundance of thought into every detail — starting with the gardens which are simply beautiful and beautifully attended every day with water so their flowers flourish and the local birds enjoy them. We wander through its extensive gardens to our meals served on a splendidly large stone deck overlooking the local Valley. We could be in Italy with its outlook over olive trees and ceramic tile tables and detailing. But we’re less than an hour’s drive from Amman, Jordan. It’s chef and staff deservedly cater regularly (from its huge contemporary kitchen) for many dinner guests here. Fresh food in abundance. Or you can stay overnight like we do. This is our 5th visit. We walk down the hill to our timber chalet past the chickens delivering fresh eggs to the kitchen every day. It’s ridiculously peaceful. Our Jordanian Trinate products provided by our hosts, make showering a pleasure. And then we laze away hours by the newly opened swimming pool designed within a minimalist garden setting and with a cute pool bar for the non-abstemious or simply to enjoy a freshly made iced lemon-mint drink without moving far. Again, sweeping views of this Salt/Zay valley create a non-intrusive atmospheric for the lazing guest or those of us who enjoy lapping, it’s perfect. Beautiful anywhere in the world. A gift to Jordanians who can afford to steal time here. And a must for visitors who want a break from their touring through Jordan’s remarkable and diverse UNESCO sites. Or come here from your long flight arrival at Queen Alia Airport and recover in peace and comfort before tackling your travels both north and south. We are immensely grateful this oasis exists when we need time out.

Prophet Shoaib Shrine

Reviewed By LegalRover

This shrine was a great find! We stumbled upon it when we took a wrong turn getting to the border crossing. It is hidden up a mountain off of route 437. Prophet Shoaib is one of the few Arabian prophets to be named in the Quran. This is one of a couple of tombs claimed to be associated with the prophet (another is in Syria). The shrine and adjacent mosque is quaint and simple. The grounds are beautiful as are the views looking west. You can sit outside and bask in the views and bring a packed lunch; it is really gorgeous. As corny as this sounds there is a really nice lime tree situated in the center courtyard outside. The gentleman tending to the mosque will pick a lime for you to take with you. There are two rooms for both sexes to pray in the mosque as well as clean facilities to perform Wudu. If you do not intend to enter the mosque, you can go into the shrine and take photos. The caretaker will provide women with a veil/covering for your head and shoulders. The site is free of charge but I would recommend tipping the caretaker.
