Welcome to the Hohenlohe Open Air Museum in Schwäbisch Hall-Wackershofen! Take a step back in time and walk in the world of our forefathers! Come to the Hohenlohe Open Air Museum to experience everyday life before there was electricity, telephones, computers or TVs! Located in the scenic expanse of the Hohenlohe plain (Hohenlohe Ebene), the museum is comprised of 70 carefully selected historical buildings from various villages and towns all over the Franconian portion of Württemberg. Each building was painstakingly transported to the museum site and furnished with authentic period pieces. Among the buildings open to visitors are farmhouses, tradesmen homes, workshops, barns, mills, a chapel and a jailhouse. During your visit you will have the chance to see flower gardens, fruit and vegetable gardens, as well as hundreds of animals that were once common features in village life.

St. Michael is first documented in 1156. Throughout the 15th and 16th century modifications were made on this church. There are many beautiful works of art in here, please check out all the pictures and descriptions I post. We walked up the many stairs of the bell tower, it was gorgeous to look out over this beautiful town. Historic, glorious sounding bells that were made from 1299 - 1538 are easily visible as you climb the steps of the bell tower. The high altar with the "Passion and Resurrection of Jesus" was completed in 1460. Other altars are here form the 16th century. The main, big ,crucifix is dated to 1494. This is a must see church in a must see town!

So, so beautiful! We walked this town all over, it is maybe the most picturesque town I have ever seen. Walking along the Kocher River, crossing the timber bridge to Biergarten Unterwöhrd, the shops along the way are quaint. You will not able to take enough pictures.
