6 Shopping Malls in Myeong-dong That You Shouldn't Miss

October 11, 2021 Marissa Gamble

Seoul is the business and cultural hub of South Korea, where skyscrapers tower over Buddhist temples. Take it all in from the N Seoul Tower, built atop a peak in Namsan Park. The teahouses and shops of Insadong give you a taste of Korean flavor, which you can further experience with a visit to the grounds and museums of Gyeongbokgung. UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeokgung Palace is a fine example of authentic ancient architecture.

The shop is very cute with lots of variety and the Pink Pool Cafe on the top floor is amazing! The decor is very fun and has lots of cool photo opportunities. I had an iced green tea and caramel croissant and both were delicious!

Hoehyeon Underground Shopping area

I first discovered Hohyeon a few years ago by accident when I wandered a bit away from the rest of one of the free bus tours offered through Incheon Airport. Like all the other underground malls in Seoul, it’s extremely clean, comfortable and yes, there’s definitely an undertone of underground bomb shelter. What makes the Hohyeon mall a different little gem is that it concentrates shops specializing in a few collector goods. You’ll find a good half-dozen to dozen coin and stamp dealers there, and a few record shops too. If these are your hobbies, Hohyeon is the place in Seoul to go. You’ll also find the typical souvenirs as well.

We did a little shopping here like beauty products and travel luggage for it is much cheaper here than in the street shops. They also have atm machines here if you are short of cash like we did. We also bought our souvenirs here for gifts back home. A lot of different items to choose from.
