The Franciscan Order has been in Santiago del Estero since 1566.The first church building was located on the original site of the city.The second temple was built farther west, following the shift of Santiago result of flooding. The time and subsequent flooding of the Rio Dulce as deteriorated and had to rebuild, but in 1845 the building was demolished due to the danger posed by their facilities in poor condition.The parish church of San Francisco Santiago del Estero and Governor Juan Felipe Ibarra, at the request of Fray Miguel de Jesus Lopez contributed with donations to build the new church, completed in 1853. Three decades later, due to rain and the salt from the ground deteriorated. Once again had to be rebuilt and the opening of the building that endures to this day came on June 20, 1895. THE MIBO is the museum's institutional PRINTING AND OFFICIAL GAZETTE OF THE PROVINCE which was inaugurated back on October 21, 2005.It is located in the building in which publishes daily the Official Gazette of the Province which is located in San Martin 172 from the capital city of Santiago del Estero. In recreating the historical and documentary of the Official Gazette of the province and its´workers. For its subject is unique in the country and this museum has a gallery of Cultural Activities in which includes different activities such as workshops, exhibitions, seminars and conferences. It also has a reception and two exhibition halls of the final material in the first which recreates a vintage print shop where you can see the process of preparing and issuing copies to the particularity of its typesetting. In the second room combines documentary footage and typeface that were part of the production of copy of the Official Gazette.

The Museum paleoanthropological "Rincón de Atacama is born by the initiative of a group of partners and neighbors in the city in order to rescue, preserve and promote natural and cultural heritage department of Rio Hondo. It opened up back in July 1995 and since then has received numerous delegations of tourists and students from the region and neighboring regions.The museum has a multipurpose room and a mezzanine which displays the entomological collections, archaeological and paleontological, highlighting the latter two by the scientific value of the material collected. The sample of archeology has preceramic lithic period (4,000 BC) and numerous urns and vases of different cultures that developed in the Department Rio Hondo in prehispanic times. The sample specimens of paleontology has been nearly complete with well preserved animals (mainly quirquinchos and Glyptodonts) that inhabited the region for about 5 million years.One of the main objectives of the Municipal Museum 'Rincón de Atacama' and the community of Las Termas de Rio Hondo is that these assets remain in the region and may be a legacy for future generations.
