Not the best option in town

The first room they put me in felt like a closet, complete with a plastic white chair for "furniture." I asked them to change my room for one with a view, which was better but smelled of sewage (actually a whole wing smelled of sewage). The street was very noisy and made it hard to sleep well. The continental breakfast was basic, but sufficient. I wouldn't go back; Hotel Colonial is a couple blocks away and much better quality for the same price.

Great hotel and restaurant

The recently remodeled room was very clean and inviting, and the hotel staff was extremely flexible when my plans changed and I needed to cancel the day of my reservation. The restaurant was another pleasant surprise- very good breakfast and dinner for a good price. Only two blocks from the zocalo. I would definitely stay here again.

Casa Mixtli Hotel

Boutique Hotel, Gallery & Spa. A place full of mysticism, ellegance and tradition: offering effective, high-quality, personalized service everytime, every dish, beyond our guests' expectations... ... Your experience becomes a story in Teziutlan's heart.

Not a Mexican-pueblo cliché... doable on wheelchair, though not wheelchair accessible...

Reviewed By Eddel

CASA MIXTLI is definitely the place to stay at if God, destiny, life, or whatever, ever puts you in this town. Because let’s face it, this small mountain town in Puebla, Mexico, is not a tourism hotspot, and if you’re not familiar to it nor have any business here, it is unlikely you’ll ever end up in Teziutlan. However, though, there are some other little towns near that might be gaining some tourist recognition and that could drive you to making Casa Mixtli your home base for exploring the area. Enough said about Teziutlan, let’s move on to the hotel review. First of all, it is a very agreeable surprise to find such facilities in such a remote, small mountain town. If you do realize where you are, you’ll find you have little to complain about or ask for. Facilities are 21st century; the décor and the ambiance won’t make you feel like staying in a Mexican-pueblo cliché: no bright piñata-like colors, no worn-out rustic furniture, and no impractical cobblestone pathways. On the contrary, you’ll even find some major hotel chain details and perks, such as a Nespresso machine, a quite comfortable bed, high quality bedclothes, and a spacious bathroom and room. Despite what you might think, and because of this hotel having only 6 rooms, space is plenty inside and outside the room. Also, I would like to bring up and highlight the lighting of Casa Mixtli, which is very well thought- and taken care-of, and constitutes a key element within the property and the room for creating very harmonious atmospheres. Let’s not forget this hotel has a wellness perspective and even has a spa, which I did not make use of and therefore cannot review. Same case with the restaurant, a nice terrace that faces the neighboring church and thus seems to have quite a nice vantage point. I previously said there should be nothing to complain about, however, I’d like to highlight some areas of opportunity for Casa Mixtli. First, although service is polite and friendly, it seems a bit unprofessional. Nothing to worry about but being clear about the check-in and checkout processes would add for a more tranquil stay. We left early in the morning and the clerk in charge said: not sure what to do now but seems everything is already been paid for, so you’re all set I guess… Secondly, not sure if this was because of the season or the weather, but looked to me the lower patio was a bit underused and its furniture not very inviting. I see so much potential in this space, but during our stay it seemed a bit wasted, making us stay in the room rather than outside. And finally, I would like to talk about Casa Mixtli’s accessibility. Let’s say it clear, the overall hotel is NOT wheelchair friendly, however, a couple of rooms which are on the lower ground are accessible through the gallery; and the spacious room allows for wheelchairs in a reasonably comfortable way. So, if you’re on a wheelchair you can spend the night at Casa Mixtli as long as you stay at either MIJTOTILIS or NEWIKATILIS room, but be aware there are no handicap features such as grab bars, raised toilet, or shower chairs. Also, once at your room you won’t be able to make it to the front desk, the spa or the restaurant. There are neither ramps nor elevator within the hotel, though I suspect you might be able to reach the ground level (front desk) through the square and church ramps in front of the hotel, however impractical. I do believe the property has the possibility, the space, and the means for becoming fully handicap accessible. I do hope this review, along with my stay, will drive them to making a change. To Casa Mixtli: dare to become an example and a driver for accessibility within your community.

Buen Hotel, pésima administración.

Reviewed By 645mariamy
