Reviewed By DLB830High up the hill side (mountain?) above Varenna on Lake Como. Quite a challenge the first time to find and drive up the winding road. However once settled we found that we a had a spacious fully equipped apartment with a balcony and great view of Lake Como. Onsite restaurant & bar quite a welcome relief. Christina (hostess & server) a great host. Very peaceful & relaxing. Castle a few hundred yards away , provides wonderful park & view of Varenna & lake.

Situated in the centre of the historical context of Bologna, characteristic village of the municipality of Perledo, you will find B&B "C'era una volta", the residence is a farmhouse of the eighteen century completely restored and added with all the comforts and maintained the glamour of a time with environments especially treated and furnished with furniture of period.

C'era una Volta is a little paradise for anyone looking to enjoy Lago di Como, without the tourist crowds. But only come if you enjoy personal, friendly service and amazing attention to detail. This is a unique B&B, and a place I would be delighted to return to. The wifi might be slow, but the breakfast is delicious, the location is magical and the hospitality is genuine, warm and discrete. And as for the views of Lago di Como: Once you know, you know... For yummy rustic, local cuisine go to Crott del Meo, 100m behind C'era und Volta.

Enjoying a fabulous location in the heart of Varenna this beautiful holiday home has been furnished to a high standard throughout and is ideal for families couples and friends.This beautiful villa is the perfect Lake Como retreat for guests who are looking to both relax and explore during their holiday, with the stunning hillside popular with hikers and cyclists and the touristic lakefront centre of Varenna all very nearby. The picturesque centre is very popular with visitors who come to explore the 'Portofino of Lake Como' with its pretty pastel coloured townhouses which lead up ancient cobbled streets to the medieval quarter with its tree-lined piazza and utterly charming shop and cafe lined streets which lead past churches and breathtaking lake vistas. The idyllic lakefront with its small harbour, its scenic walkway with floral displays and charming lakefront restaurants which lead along cobbled streets to wine bars and fine hotel restaurants paint a highly romantic scene for any visitor and the town also boasts the visitor attractions of Villa Monastero with its famous botanical gardens and the medieval Castello di Vezio.

Reviewed By allysonp470We stayed at Villa Varenna for 3 nights in July 2019 The air conditioner stopped working each night around 1am. We complained but nothing was done. Towels were not changed once and they were damp and smelly. The entire building is in need of sprucing up. The terraces need cleaning The breakfast was great but that is the only good thing about Villa Varenna. Very disappointing and not cheap.

Reviewed By LPomVery modern and clean property with a balcony and stunning views over Lake Como. Very close to train station so easy to walk (but don't worry - sounds of trains are not bothersome - and you really don't hear at all with the doors closed.) Short 10 minute walk to Ferry and another 5 to town with some hills involved, but this was welcome after all the good food and wine! Be careful if you are looking for a place for a couple - you can easily sign up just for the studio (which we did at first) and find yourself sleeping on a sofa bed! Glad I caught that mistake before we traveled. The apartment was very nice and well-equipped. Wifi was strong and worked wonderfully. Bed was comfortable. Nice to have the balcony to sip a glass of wine and watch the sun set. Too early in the season for us to use the pool, so can't comment on that. Came with coffee and tea enough for the stay as well as salt, pepper and napkins - - very much appreciated as these are hard to buy for a short stay of 4 days. Suggest property to add a roll of paper towel. Alessia was very welcoming host and flexible to work around our changing arrival as trains were delayed. She shared all of the details and suggested restaurants, grocery and ferry options. No need to walk garbage down the street as garbage cans are provided in the garage. Loved the features and ability to prepare our own breakfast. Would have given a 5 rating if it was not for the high cleaning fee added to the rate - and another set of bath towels would be welcome. I would definitely stay here again if in Varenna, which I highly recommend over other Lake Como cities.
