Little Gem in Wales

Reviewed By Emily009

We stayed for 3 nights and were very pleasantly surprised at the standard of accommodation as we have travelled extensively in Wales and unfortunately have often been disappointed but not this time! Absolutely spotlessly clean (I am Mrs Fussy personified ?) but felt very comfortable and at ease at Pontyclerc Farmhouse. We had a downstairs room and it was blissfully peaceful throughout our stay. The owners were always helpful and on hand to answer any queries about the area etc. The breakfast table was also laid beautifully with flowers to brighten the start of our morning and the food was beautifully cooked. I can definitely recommend the porridge with delicious honey ?. All this at an amazingly reasonable price - win win every time. Thank you to all the family for making our stay so lovely.

Lovely quiet accomodation with great service and food

Reviewed By SophieS2173

This is a gem of a B&B and Helen and Matt who own and run it couldn't be more welcoming. The rooms are well apportioned and have lots of little extras to help your stay be relaxing. It's a quiet spot with lots of birds and surrounded by trees, when we were there there was also a bank of bluebells. There is a stream and alpaccas in the garden and no traffic as background noise. I just wish I was better at recognising bird calls as there are so many birds around. Breakfasts are delicious with lots of options. We've stayed before and will be back as it's just a great spot and they are lovely people.

The Glynhir Estate

Time slips by just as it always has done at Glynhir. For decades, the estate has welcomed guests of all kinds – families, artist groups, tourists – who return again and again to a place where the days seem to pass that bit slower. Guests can while away hours on end by simply sitting out with a mug of coffee in the tree filled garden with its ornamental canal, setting an easel up to capture the views of the rugged Black Mountains, or curling up with a book in front of the open fire in the 17th century mansion. A short stroll takes you around the cobbled farmyard among free roaming peacocks, chickens, geese and ducks, or down to the River Loughor with its 30ft waterfall for the exclusive enjoyment of guests. This is all before you’ve ventured beyond Glynhir’s 220 acres into the Brecon Beacons National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with enough valleys and vistas to satisfy the keenest walkers.AboutGlynhir is located two miles from the village of Llandybie, between the towns of Ammanford and Llandeilo, and just ten miles from the end of the M4. Its name ‘glyn hir’ means ‘long valley’ and describes the way the mansion was built on a plateau above a seven mile long wooded gorge at the foot of the Black Mountains.Glynhir offers both B&B in the 17th century mansion and self catering accommodation in six historic cottages.

We booked online after reading such great reviews. We stayed for 5 nights at Glynhir Estate. We were made to feel very welcome and given a choice of bedrooms all of which were very tastefully decorated. We chose room no 5 which was a lovely room overlooking the beautiful back garden. The room was very large , lots of storage and a large en-suite.Great shower. All wonderfully clean. The proprietors were friendly and welcoming and most helpful. The estate is a truly delightful place to stay and we enjoyed staying here very much and would love to return in the future. The grounds are just beautiful and the beautiful Peacocks one with a baby peacock was delightful to see.The waterfall is very pretty also.

The Red Kite Inn

Avoid if you like cleanliness

Reviewed By C2647AJrosemaryc

We booked a standard double room for a 4 night stay through Booking.com, the room we were allocated was extremely small and tired looking, there was no light shade just a bare bulb and the shower room/toilet was a converted cupboard. The bedding was fresh and there was a smart TV in the room, probably OK for a one night stay. We asked to upgrade to the deluxe room/family room at £25 a night more for extra space, as it was booked the day we arrived we booked for the following 3 days, this was far better as the shower room was probably the size of the standard bedroom. There was a sofa in the room enabling you to watch TV without sitting on bed, unfortunately the TV was small and only had local channels unlike the smart TV in the small bedroom, strange. The shower cubicles in both bedrooms were old and tired and could do with a good clean. When we returned to the room after a day out it hadn’t been serviced, so I checked the room info that I read before going out and it quite clearly stated that they pride themselves on the high standard of cleanliness but if we wish them NOT to go into the room let them know. I went down to speak to the manager and she first said, oh we’re not a Hotel we don’t service rooms, when I asked about the room information she then pulled out the new excuse of COVID even though everything else was back to normal. If they have now decided to be lazy and drop the practice of servicing rooms, they should A. Make it apparent at time of booking and B. Supply cleaning products in the bathroom, not everyone likes to go 3 days without cleaning their bathroom even if they do, had I known this I would have went to an AirBnB.

Relaxing stay with a warm welcome!

Reviewed By Z9573RGmariab

Just back from a really relaxing 3 night trip to Cwmberach Uchaf Farm where we stayed in a Canvas Lodge with private outdoor shower and log burning stove - really lovely and cosy. Our hosts, Mark and Sarah, were great - really welcoming and always on hand if needed. We would really recommend the wood fired pizza service and if you want to spoil yourself book one of the home-cooked evening meals delivered direct to your lodge... If you book a Breakfast Hamper make sure you bring a healthy appetite with you! Nestling at the bottom of the Brecon Beacons National Park it's a great location to get out about in the wild with walks and castles all on the doorstep. We had a lovely and relaxing stay - Thanks Mark and Sarah!
