We enjoyed spending time watching the seals and sea lions. Our driver was good and our guide was a lovely young lady who spoke excellent English. It was interesting speaking to her and getting an insight into the way of life in Puerto Madryn. The tour itself whilst enjoyable was expensive for what it was.

We did this as a shore excursion and we booked it directly with El Pedral. The El Pedral team at the Puerto Madryn port were well signed and we found our way to our guide, Rodrigo who directed s to the small 'bus we went touring within. Rodrigo was well spoken and an excellent guide giving us great information on the excursion. We saw some wildlife on the journey to El Pedral property. Our first stop was to observe a small nmber of Elephant Seals laying below our cliff top observation point and then we proceeded to the area of the light house. Then came the reason for our journey - the walk, maybe 1500m or more, to the area where the penguins were located. First we saw moulting birds and then more and more and finally we reached the pebble beach where there were many penguins close to the line of surf. A few walked close to us while we stood upon the beach. After we returned to our bus we went to the El Pedral buildings where we had a lunch which included Argentinian style BBQed lamb and wine. This was the best excursion we have ever been on in our 6 cruises.

After waiting for quite some time (as others hadn't disembark in a timely fashion) we were picked up from the pier with a group of others from our ship. The drive is 175kms so about 2 1/2 hours with the last hour on gravel roads. It is a bumpy ride so if this is not your preference you may want to rethink it. Our driver Pedro did his very best to make it as smooth as possible even driving in the middle of the road at times to avoid as many bumps as possible. Our guide Beto was informative and told us about the region, the wildlife and life in Puerto Madryn. We stopped first at a check point going into the Peninsula as they want to ensure groups are travelling with official guides. We had a stop at a rest stop and then proceeded to the ranch were we had a good lunch. Empanada, salad, BBQ lamb and dulce de leche flan. Everything was prepared nicely although the service was just alright. After lunch we went to the Nature Reserve to visit the penguins where they say there are between 800,000 - 1 million birds. It was amazing! The Magellan penguins are everywhere and you can get quite close to them. There is a pathway that they ask you stay on but the penguins go wherever they want so they were often crossing the designated pathways. There were many babies and it was quite noisy with the chatter of the birds everywhere. We spent about an hour there in total but we could have spent all day there - it was so awesome to see them in such a natural environment. We walked down to the beach and watched them on the sand and swimming in the water. Approximately 6kms up the coast we visited the sea lions and elephant seals. The vantage point is from a cliff so you can't really get up close. But you can certainly hear them. We were a little pressed for time at this stop as they wanted to make sure we arrived back on time. We came back to the pier just at the all aboard time. Long day but completely worth it.

I Do not recommend this company I did a pre-planned day trip of Argentina. It was arranged they pick me up from nearby hotel. I msg to confirm and they changed the plans and I had to meet there which wasn’t Easy to find. I attempted many times to contact them via the phone numbers they provided and concierge also attempted, but they never responded. Then I only got half the tour. Try other more reliable and reputable companies.

Its scientific's name Eubalaena Australis, proclaimed as a nature patrimony for mankind by The UNESCO on 1999, and a national symbol that you find on our cash, the Ballena franca Austral. Believe me, you don't need to book a expensive ticket aboard on the sailboat. In the cooling season of june, you can see the whales on the coast, doing their mating ceremony. Thanks to the geographical position and the temperature of the coast, our gulf called "Golfo nuevo", provides a nice amount of food and a safe place to this magnificent specimen. Until december, the time when the whales leave the gulf with their whale calves. Such a fantastic experience that you'll enjoy alone, with friends, with your partner or why not? With Your family.
