5 Water & Amusement Parks in Hordaland That You Shouldn't Miss

January 1, 2022 Jacquiline Delozier

Lying at the heart of Norway’s Western Fjord area, Hordaland is home to culturally rich Bergen, the country’s second largest city. Hardangerfjord, Norway’s second-longest fjord (and the third-longest in the world), is here too, and cruising along its scenic 110 miles is a top area activity. Leirvik, the second-biggest town in Hordaland, has the interesting open-air Sunnhordland Folk Museum. Set atop one of the country’s biggest glaciers, Folgefonna National Park has a popular summer ski center.

Would highly recommend the climbing park to anyone with children. Very professional and courteous staff who made us feel welcome and safe, and the experience was fantastic. My daughter had an amazing time, and we will definitely be back in the future.

Mikkelparken

This is a perfect place for the kids to run crazy and the parents to get a change to sit and have a coffee. There are just loads to do for the kids and we have bought a season ticket for all of us for the third year in a row. We love it! Our children are 5 and 7 and we will definitely be going for an other couple of years. The park provides different activities for kids. This is an activity park, not an amusement park. The difference is that it doesn’t have rides, but it provides activities like climbing and swinging and running. It has a great outdoor swimming area with slides and different activities too. It is a wonderful place to spend some energy! It’s a 40 minute drive from where we live, but it’s located beautifully in a pearl of the Norwegian fjords. For a family day this is a wonderful way to spend some days. The place is surrounded by camping sites so if you plan ahead you should be able to get a wonderful overnight stay too if you like. If you are looking for a place to see both Norwegian, stunning nature and have the kids run crazy (and run a bitt yourself if you like) this is perfect! It’s our happy place and we recommend it to all families with children.
