Pure Perfection

Reviewed By DahraJ

Where do I even begin to explain the amazing experience I had at Hideaways Nantwich! It was honestly the best lodge experiences I have ever had. The team is amazing and made sure every minute of our stay was absolute perfection. The rooms are clean, modern, spacious. The food is fresh and creative. The lodge is located inside Hwange National Park which puts you right in the middle of nature in which we got to see lions, giraffes, the resident hippo, zebras, and so many cool birds

Tony: Thank you so much for your positive energy and attention to detail! Tony made us feel at home from the minute we arrived and was always so attentive and kind to us. Each table was set to perfection, every meal presented perfectly, each glass kept full. Tony has such a kind spirit that will stay with us.

Nyellie: Thank you so much for making sure everything was organized and welcoming us! She mad us feel so comfortable the moment we arrived. Nyellie made sure rooms were perfect and made sure the day flowed to perfection.

Chef Brandon: Thank you so much for your creativity in the kitchen and keeping our bellies full. We were a vegetarian group and Brandon made sure to cater to our diet while also making the best meals. I am still thinking about our first meal there... so amazing!

Courage: Thank you so much for your knowledge and patience as you guided us through the bush. I am still amazed at the knowledge Courage knows of Hwange. Courage's passion for the Bush and teaching others really made each game drive exciting. Courage made us feel like family from the moment we arrived and was so open to answering the million questions we had.

Thank you to the rest of the team as well. You can truly feel such a great energy amongst everyone!

Watch by floodlight the night animals and the sounds and smells of the great African bush emanates up into your room. Once these incredible sights, sounds and smells enter your system, you will never get rid of them and the want for more will haunt you for a return. Come enjoy Zimbabwe hospitality at its warmest.

This safari lodge is an absolute gem

12 of us visited Ivory Lodge in April 20 22. We were bowled over by the wonderful surroundings and absolutely amazing hospitality. Joel, Michelle , Jameson and the team were so warm, friendly and attentive. We felt genuinely sad to leave them and would dearly love to be able to visit them all again. Zebedee and King, our game drive guides were unbelievably knowledgeable about all of the wildlife, the plants and habitat. They were both fascinating to listen to and we learned so much from them. They were absolutely fantastic. The camp has a rustic, natural feel to it. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bedrooms contain everything that you need. Considerable thought has gone into the design and layout of the rooms. There are lots of thoughtful little touches and every room has a great view of the watering hole. We were lucky to see an elephant and a herd of kudu drinking from the watering hole on the first day and then saw a warthog chasing for kudu away! We were taken care of beautifully. Washington, the chef, attended to all of our difficult dietary requirements. A great deal of care went into the food preparation and we really enjoyed all of it. Well done guys, you are doing a fantastic job!

Excellent Service and Friendly People

We spent 2 nights at this lodge, and enjoyed the facility, employees, and food services. Check in and check out were smooth and well organized. The on site manager, Paul, helped assure that all of our needs were met, and was quite helpful in making sure everything went smoothly. All of the employees were friendly, attentive, and on task at all times. All employees were great, but Kelvin and Privilege stand out as exceptionally helpful. Game sightings at the water hole were regular but limited in scope during our visit. I'm sure it will improve as the dry season progresses. Some of the lodges could benefit from upgrades ( bathrooms, etc), but everything was functional and certainly satisfactory. Tourism has been hard hit by Covid and some issues with currency stability, but Zimbabweans continue to be welcoming and eager to share their knowledge and love of their country. I hope to return to Ganda Lodge on future visits to Zimbabwe.

Sable Sands

The eco friendly Sable Sands has 16 traditionally thatched 'rondavels' with en suite bathroom, making your lodge the perfect blend of ancient culture, nature and modern convenience. The lodge is owner managed and has built up a great reputation for the enthusiastic team and hospitality. Sable Sands is situated on a forestry concession and the lodge harvests dead wood for cooking and heating up the hot water through wood boilers. A generator is ran in the early morning hours and evening for guests to charge their cameras and batteries, and lighting is provided through solar lights after the generator has made place for the sounds of nature at night. Laundry service is provided and limited wifi is available in the evening before and after dinner. This African forest home also has a tree house and a refreshing solar powered swimming pool. The main building composes of a dining area, lounge, library and bar and just in front there is a large outdoor fire pit where guests can have dinner under the stars instead of inside. From here you overlook the Dete Vlei, which frequently hosts wildlife visitors at the solar pumped water hole. Here you have a chance of seeing sable antelope, zebra and thirsty herds of elephant, buffalo, and if you are lucky you might spot lion, cheetah, painted dog, jackal and more. The Vlei is also renowned for its incredible bird population: no less than 350 different species in all. Safaris are conducted on the private and neighboring concessions or through pre booking inside the Hwange National Park (18 kms - 40 mins game drive to the entrance of the park). During the safari, coffee/tea/water or water and soft drink/beers are provided and included. Sable Sands does not offer any credit card facilities yet, and guests are asked to settle their extra's (eg. laundry, bar bill, extra safari) in cash upon departure.

Excellent stay in Sable Sands

We had a fantastic 2 nights at Sable Sands. Food and room (direct view to the water hole) were excellent. However, the best part was the friendly and knowledgeable staff who made us feel very welcomed. We can fully recommend the place. We've done many safaris and this was among the best experiences. Warm thank you everyone at Sable Sands!
