Lovely pied a Terre in Church Stretton

When there is lots of choice about where to stay little details matter. Being welcomed back by the owner when I booked was a great start. A decanter of Sherry in the room, a water cooler outside the room, a fridge with real milk to make tea in the room - all these things make for a special stay. The “big” stuff is also great - bedroom is stylishly appointed, nice coffee shop downstairs, delicious breakfast cooked to order. Reasonably priced for a place of such quality. Great location on high st close to railway station. All these things make Victoria House our go to Hotei to explore the joys of this lovely part of U.K.

After reluctantly picking it up and flushing it in the toilet. I thought i would check bed only to find red the sheets were stained and ont even ironed it looked like some one slept in it the night before. After our walkthe next day we come back only to findno Hot water. Next dat ok. Breakfast cold plate, so breakfast was also luke warm. My friend didnt eat there after his scrambled eggs as he found a label in it. We wont be going back!!!!

The Longmynd

The Longmynd dates from the early 1900s and originally attracted Edwardian visitors to the 'Little Switzerland' of Church Stretton. With a magnificent hill-top location, there are panoramic views of the surrounding hills from the dining room and our lounges. Today the Longmynd has been extensively modernised to suit the needs of visitors. We offer spacious bedrooms, fabulous food and spacious lounges to relax in. Our extensive gardens and woodland walk are both relaxing places to explore.

What dreadful Accommodation

Reviewed By Nancy M

We chose a "Premium room" just to be sure we were comfortable. A dirty, dingy bedroom, a narrow bed with 4 posts and a tatty bit of red cloth around the top. Damaged ill fitting window looking straight down the car park. Dirty carpets, a strange dark space described as a lounge and a bathroom from the last century. All the furniture and lighting looked like cheap, misjudged auction purchases. This accommodation is totally misrepresented on the HF website. It took five attempts at complaining before we were taken seriously and we were told the manager was on holiday and the room allocation was done at central office. They were not answering the phone at central office. Our only option was to move to a lodge which was in a shocking state too. We managed to close the broken french windows. This place took the word basic to new depths, the bed was still so small it required synchronised turning but there was a lounge we could sit in. Lots of people were muttering about the need for refurbishment but a lick of paint is not going to solve the problems. Good natured, tolerant walkers are putting up with a lot. Some of the carpets in the public areas were dirty and hazardous. The serving staff were polite and helpful and the food was OK. Surprisingly, the towels were very good.
