We were a large group of 17 and Brian and the team were incredible accommodating us for a meal on Saturday evening. The food was fantastic. The kids were in their element, served quickly before ourselves and feasting on Steak and Chips or Fish and Chips, the same quality that the adults were served. The platters were stunning, the pork belly being the jewel in the crown! Buttery soft meat with a crispy crackling. The steak pie was full of flavour, and the beef melt in the mouth. Plenty of gravy to dunk the chunkiest, crisp, chips into. Unassuming from the outside, this pub is not to be driven past!!!! Brilliant, welcoming service, and food to remember!

Overpriced

We arrived and was shown to our room. Unfortunately it had not been cleaned. The bathroom was filthy, had hairs all in the shower and the toilet seat was dirty and the bathroom floor. The duvet cover was hanging out the bottom and all crumpled up inside so didn't lie flat on the bed. The room itself was dusty also. The shower was warmish, however zero pressure so i was unable to wash my hair as it was not powerful enough, it just trickled out. However the staff were great and friendly. They apologized about the room and came up to clean it. Breakfast was lovely also and a good location. I just think for the price we paid per night i would of expected a much higher quality room and bathroom. Very overpriced. I would not stay again for that price :(

A lovely experience!

We only stayed for one night as we were heading to Zip World the next day. It was a last minute decision to book some accommodation. Needless to say, the prices were all very high so we decided on this hostel as something different for the kids too. Our room was ready as soon as we checked in just after 5 ( strictly no arriving before 5) and was exactly what you'd expect in a luxury hostel including the comfiest beds ever! The kids loved the uniqueness of the funky bunk beds and the games in the communal area. We'd definitely come back but not leave it too last minute to book! P.S Best bacon in the cafe next door!

St Curig's Church

It’s probably true to say that there’s nowhere else quite like St Curig’s in North Wales. Ancient and modern stylishly combine in this wonderful self catering property set within a 19th-century church in the mountain village of Capel Curig. Where else can you sleep beneath a carved stone pulpit, enjoy a hot tub under the stars or play table tennis beneath a fabulous 19th-century mosaic ceiling? And all with lovely views of Snowdonia’s mountains from every window…

Truly Unique

Booked by our sister for a getaway for our family of 15, this really was a unique place. There are plenty of positives with this property/venue. It is in a lovely location, secluded but not too far away from shops and other people. It is also only a 10-15mins drive from Mount Snowdon (which we climbed during our visit). The chapel/building and the grounds are beautiful, inside and out, with amazing views everywhere. This is balanced with all the modern elements - both in the garden (the hot tub, zip wire, climbing wall, etc.) and inside (modern kitchen, pool table, etc.). It is generally clean and tidy. Special note regarding the hosts/owners, who were really friendly, helpful and welcoming, and didn't complain once despite the noise from our end deep into the night! Like anywhere, there is room for improvement. The mattresses and pillows on the beds (and pull out beds) were not great and didn't make for a comfortable sleep. Bedrooms are nice but ours didn't have a wardrobe to hang clothes and the en-suite was very tight. Not all rooms have en-suites either, and with that many people in the property, only having one "communal toilet/bathroom" was a struggle. I really think every room should be en-suite! And then there are just some general things e.g. the TV wasn't picking up channels properly so didn't get used (and we streamed the Olympics from our phones). TV may also be better situated in the downstairs seating area instead of the kitchen area. the pool table triangle was broken, the table tennis net was damaged, banister was broken, couple of broken tiles in the bathroom. It could also help to have some sort of canopy over the hot tub (there was only so long we could stay in there when it rained, but we gave it a good few tries)! So could it be improved? Yes, like any venue. Would I go back, even now? 100%. This really is a wonderful and unique venue, one that I will certainly visit again and will recommend to others too.

Brilliant day

Reviewed By Rosiepenny1

We had the most amazing day as a family with our instructor Claire. As a family of 7, made up of three children, two parents and two grandparents, we managed to do all the activities! Claire was super patient and explained everything clearly. We began in canoes, and even our 5 year old managed that. We played games and raced making it so enjoyable. Then we had lunch and after lunch, once we had squeezed ourselves into wet suits, we hit the kayaks and paddle boards. It was brilliant and everyone had a go and enjoyed every minute. We could have been wet, cold and miserable. But it wasn’t at all like that! We got wet, we fell in, we splashed, played games and laughed a lot. I absolutely recommend this place!
