We started this trail around 8PM in June. It was steep but not bad at all. Very few people on the trail. Lovely trees and fairy like terrain. We crested the top and were treated to one of our most amazing views of the whole trip. We were able to finish before 10PM and it was still light. Loved the solitude and lovely wilderness. It is difficult to find, no signage, so take your time.

There are a number of different ways to approach the gorge, requiring a short walk through the Evanston Community Woods or from the road near the old mill. Nothing prepares you for the deep gash in the ground, although the sound of rushing water gives a clue. Be ready to feel dizzy as you try to catch a glimpse of the water far, far below! The information boards explain the history of the Gorge. Leave enough time to explore the Community Woods too....lots of lovely quiet walks, with outdoor play area for children too.
