It is served by a commuter main line railway and is 21 miles (34 km) from London Charing Cross. It is the principal town of the Sevenoaks district, followed by Swanley and Edenbridge.

Ightham Mote is a magical 14th century moated manor house, surrounded by beautiful gardens, lakes and woodland walks. Built nearly 700 years ago, the house has been owned by medieval knights, courtiers to Henry VIII and high-society Victorians. Highlights include the picturesque gardens, courtyard, Great Hall, crypt, Tudor painted ceiling, Grade I listed dog kennel.

This was another National Trust property we had wanted to visit for many years and at last we were able to do so.it did not disappoint, in fact it exceeded our expectations. In a sheltered valley location the half timbered and moated house has been subject to a £10 million restoration and it is in a perfect state for future generations. A great part of the house is open and pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable volunteers are available in most rooms to inform visitors and answer questions. A beautiful and historic house which is well worth visiting.

We visited knole house recently and found it a very pleasant day out, it's a large national trust house with the usual items to see inside paintings furniture ect, the grounds are very extensive and the deer tame , on the day we visited it was very warm which made it all the more beautiful.

Beautiful, relaxing hillside Gardens with stunning views over the Weald of Kent & an excellent cafe. For garden experts we have a magnificent collection of rhododendrons & azaleas, some grown from seeds brought back by the plant hunters. We have a wonderful Rose Walk, Walled Garden, with spectacular terraces & water feature, our newly restored Rock Garden, filled with ferns & water cascades & giant specimen trees. For families we have a fab adventure playground, den building woods, boat swing, holiday activities & our much loved resident yeti (weekends & school holidays 2-4). Seasonal highlights include: bluebell woods in early spring, rhododendrons & azaleas later in spring, our alium & peony borders early summer, followed by fragrant roses, rounding off the season with spectacular autumn colour, especially from our beautiful acer collection. One of the hidden gems of Kent, never too busy but breathtaking in its beauty from the gardens to the modern sculptures, the children love exploring and has the major attraction of an adventure play area and a cafe serving wonderful beverages and fresh made cakes. High recommended.

Breathtaking views, ornate gardens and a delicious cafe, what is not to like. Our favorite place to visit for a couple of hours and relax and enjoy family together time.

We're absolutely mad about dogs, and encourage visitors to bring their pups to explore The Lost Gardens of Sevenoaks with them. Since opening our gate in 2018, we've been proud to work with a great group of local talent to put on engaging events for our visitors. We offer Alpaca Treks though our woodland paradise, regular events such as farmers markets, yoga retreats, Glamping. Best coffee I've had in a long while. So glad they are open again for the lovely walks and cafe. Lovely just to browse the lovely plants and plan my garden.
