The ancient Pagoda was built during Yang dynasty when Buddhism flourished in China around year 669. May not be as magnificent as some other famous Buddhist temples but the view from the top is mid boggling. Yangtze river view, City view or the park surrounding the hill all are worth the small climb. The HILLOCK is about 107 meters. Easy stairways have been built with plenty of seating if you need to rest along the way. Can spend a whole day walking around this place. Well maintained relics and Tourist guide legend has it that this ancient temple survived the ravages of cultural revolution due to its smart Abbot. He inscribed slogans glorifying the reign of Chairman Mao. The youth brigades could not destroy the monument and thanks to that Clever Abbot we get to visit this great ancient monument and at the same time get to test our fitness. It is not that tough a climb gentle stairways with lots of breaks in between. While climbing up there are monuments and shrines to various historic characters and yes some watering holes n eateries, Smoking is restricted to certain areas.
