This is common pasture land used by the local community. In summer months animals do inhabit the Westwood and drivers are asked to use care. There is something for everyone except no toilets. When I was young the family use to visit for the day with a picnic and play cricket or just kick a ball around. It also has a golf club on so be careful were you walk. There are trails for kids to run up and down all day long. On weekends and bank holidays in summer there will be Burgess ice cream on sale and on most days a hot dog/burger van who also does healthy salads and teas. I continue to visit to walk the dog a very popular place for that and you are also next to the race course well worth a visit if you have never been. You cannot camp or lite fires or park more then sort of 10 metres from the road to avoid damaging the environment. It can be a good cheap day out for the family provided the weather is kind.

We did not know of the existence of this nature reserve and only learnt of it by chance when ‘Googling’ walks in Beverley! There is a little parking in the lane. The Parks are a nature reserve which were once part of Old Hall Farm smallholding. There is a circular parkland trail. On the other side of the road is the Millennium Orchard which was planted in partnership with the Women’s Institute in 2000. There is a small car parking area. We were lucky enough to see a young deer as we approached the orchard but unfortunately not quick enough to photograph it! Again there is a circular walk around the orchard which is full of apple and pear trees. There are picnic tables, wood carvings and information boards. There are also bee hives. It is a lush and green area, particularly after the recent rain. We will definitely return on a sunnier day. It was quite wet underfoot.

There is a proper hard top path on both sides of this tree lined beck that contains numerous fish such as pike and roach, water lilies and other aquatic plants. It leads to a lock and lock keepers lodge at its joins the R. Hull that is also a delightful quite walk.
