Got a personal tour of this lovely house and grounds... many original pieces still available to see...amazing ceilings, also original. Amazing to see a place with so much of the original furniture, artwork, flooring, and even the inner walls of the cooking fireplace. Amazing!

This is a lovely, little, historical house. The house is old and very well restored. It has three different rooms that tell the history of Mr. Antonio Ricaurte and how his immolation prevent it the Spaniards from reconquering Colombia. It is managed by the Colombian airforce. The space is very clean, it is in front of a very nice square, in a peaceful area of town. It opens for a few hours in am and pm. It does not open every day. It is free. It is walking distance from many other historical sites.

Who would have thought that dedicating an entire restaurant/Café to chocolate would be such a devine endeavor? These guys do it well, OMG, do they ever! Villa de Leyva’s weather can be a bit cold, so dropping in after a terrible rain storm was the best idea, we didn’t know just how good it would be until we looked at the menu. Don’t be fooled by the word “Museo”, this is actually a great restaurant, café that will pleasantly surprise you. Drop in for any type of chocolate dream you’d like to have fulfilled, or for dinner just as well. We had both. Excellent cream of mushroom and tomato soups, nice appetizers and entrees. But save the best for last. Chocolate anything, from delicious cups of various types of hot chocolate to drink, or chocolate desserts, everything was delicious. We will definitely return if we have the chance.
