Peace Temple

Reviewed By OZS_ATW - Budapest, Hungary

The Zalaszántó Stupa is one of the largest such facilities in Europe. The sanctuary was built in 1992 on the Kovácsi hill near Zalaszántó, in the middle of a forest. The snow-white structure is 30 m high and 24 m wide. You can't even get inside the sanctuary. The stupa looks really nice and the surrounding area is very peaceful. The road is in a very bad condition. Worth visiting!

The Marzipan Museum and Confectionery

After many years of experience and preparation at our family's famous Szabo Marzipan Museum in Puchberg am Schneeberg in Austria, Jeno and Agnes Simonfai were delighted to extend the family tradition here in Keszthely. The exhibits on display, with few exeptions, are entirely our own work. Our most popular exhibit is the marzipan model of the Festetics Palace. The Palace model is adorned with much ornate decoration and took over two month to complete. Many of the exhibits display famous sights of the local Zala Region, including the buddist Stupa in Zalaszanto. Our colourful fairy-tale figures will amuse your children and can be seen alongside a traditional swiss carraige drawn by twelve horses. You may also find here model cars and favourite animal characters. The annual family feasts of Carnival, Easter and Christmas, birthdays and wedding anniversaires also are celebrated in our exhibits which comprises a large selection of traditional wedding cakes from around the Globe.
