5 Food & Drink in Salisbury That You Shouldn't Miss

August 29, 2021 Hana Mouser

If you saw Chevy Chase's masterpiece European Vacation, you'll recognize Stonehenge's massive formation. (As a citizen of the world, you should recognize Stonehenge anyway.) The prehistoric stone circle is eight miles from Salisbury, and its visitors provide a boost to the local economy. With a history dating back over 5,000 years, there is no shortage of significant places to visit in and around Salisbury. On the "must see" list are Salisbury Cathedral, Longleat and Stourhead gardens (and Stonehenge, of course).

I can't speak highly enough of this experience. Surinder and Safia are both so very passionate about the origins of their food and methods. With so many stories to listen to, you come away feeling privileged to have been invited into a special world. I spent a wonderful half day enjoying their workshop and came away with a bounty of goodies which we had made. All of it tasted amazing, so fresh, complex and rich in flavour. I thoroughly recommend Pure Punjabi and for those who can't get to their gorgeous home, the cook-a-long workshops on Zoom are just as much fun, informative and tasty.

Sadly with Covid they can’t do a tap room but they do have a wide range of interesting beers to take away and it makes a good stop if you are also visiting the next door aviation centre. Looking forward to trying our purchases soon.

Maul's Wine & Cheese bar

My husband and I ate here Saturday night. We had a fantastic time in such a beautiful venue. The food and wine was excellent and it was nice to try so many different cheeses we’d never tried before as well as meats. The home made chutney was delicious. The staff are very good in helping you to choose what to go for and take the time to listen and advise you if unsure. Nothing was too much trouble. Was great to be able to buy so many different wines by the glass. The staff were extremely polite and friendly, the ambience perfect, the fairy lights stunning and then excellent food and wine made our trip to Salisbury extremely memorable. The skates really are a work of art, almost shameful to destroy. It was a very leisurely and satisfying dinner and we would not hesitate to return here and would love to have one where we live. Andy, thank you and your staff for making our night one to remember. From the Essex couple.

We had a tour of the vineyard by Nat which was very informative. We were able to taste the grapes and were given a tasting board with delicious cheese and charcuterie to accompany the wine (which was also delicious!)

Had a fantastic evening here yesterday making macarons. Nathan (the chef) was great fun and made the process simple to understand and kept us entertained with stories and information from his experiences as a chef. Barry and Simon were great at keeping the evening running smoothly (and covid safely) and massive thank you to them for cleaning up after us too! Was a belated mothers day gift and due to covid had been postponed several times but the school were excellent at keeping us informed of date changes without having to ask about it which I am really grateful to them for! Hugely recommend them for fun learning experience with yummy results!
