We are a group of five people from Hong Kong for the first time visiting Kagoshima. We joined various tours arranged by Tabitto as we want to experience more about Kagoshima other than shopping. The most remarkable are the tram night and tea & distillery experience. Personally, I love taking tram in Hong Kong because we can enjoy the view and the time well spent with friends. At tram night, we also met other participants came from Hong Kong! It is recommended to join the tram night either meeting new friends or enjoy the delicious food with Kagoshima specialties. We also visited Whisky distillery and Shochu distillery. That was pretty impressive too as to know and experience something you can't see it easily in your own city. And the Tea ceremony was such a wonderful experience to admire how much they care and preserve their own culture. To sum up, great experience, great people, great foods ! Had a wonderful time experiences well prepared by Tabitto !!!

Kagoshima’s food culture is always with fermentation. The warm climate gives the variation of the unique food culture. Kurozu, Kagoshima miso, Yamagawa zuke (Daikon radish pickles), Shochu… there are many kinds of fermented food. Whisky is one of them. There are 2 whisky distilleries in Kagoshima,”MARS Tsunuki Distillery” and “KANOSUKE Distillery”. The history of making whiskey in Kagoshima is not that long but those companies are the specialists of making good quality liquor. The quality of whisky turns out unique and special due to the climate of Kagoshima. Why don’t we go and see how they are making their whisky?

The flexibility to chose locations that suited our wants and abilities was great. Hiro San was very quick to put together an itinerary that accommodated a family with a stroller-baby (no monkey park due to long unpacked walking paths). Taking in the beautiful temples and view of the Kyoto from the west was breath taking and the guide was able to explain many things we as new Japanese learners could not read or know through cultural knowledge. Overall a great experience, a wonderful and lively guide, and some great memories.
