House of Wonders (Beit el-Ajaib) is currently under regeneration sponsored by the Sultanate of Oman and Program Managed by Zamani, the Program Commenced in May 2018 with supporting scaffolding already now in place and restoration construction work due to begin in early 2019. Work will be done in line with UNESCO guidelines using the historic construction materials and complete restoration to the original concept design of the building. Work due to be completed mid 2020 and is part of a further ongoing regeneration program – heritageofzanzibar.com which also includes, The Palace Museum, Omani Fort, Beit al-Ishmali (Old Orphanage), and several other properties within Stone Town as an initial 5 year plan. The buildings will be repurposed for displaying the history and cultural heritage of Zanzibar, incorporating the Swahili, Omani and Indian influences of the island.
