10 Wineries & Vineyards in Valle Central That You Shouldn't Miss

December 29, 2021 Hana Mouser

Chile's Valle Central, a verdant valley tucked between the Andes and the coastal mountain ranges, has a mild climate and moist soil perfect for grape growing. Made up of four distinct wine regions, Maipo, Rapel, Curico and Maule, the area is criss-crossed by well-traveled wine roads. At the northern end of the valley is Maipo, the oldest of Chile's wine regions, famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon. At the opposite end is Maule, which still grows Pais, the first grape brought to South America.

The best wine experience I have ever had. Christian, our tour guide took us on a wonderfully personal tour of the vineyard and the winery - sharing knowledge and expertise that was extremely enlightening. The tastings were sublime and we were blown away by the whole experience. Such a great thing to do. Fantastic!

My Husband and I had a private tour of this beautiful vineyard. As someone who only drinks white wine in an area where they only make red wine it was really interesting to hear how both white and red wine is made and the difference. The Sauvignon blanc was very enjoyable and my Husband enjoyed the red wines. We would recommend a visit.

I was looking for a more individual wine tasting experience, found OWM online and can 1000% recommend!! It started with a very warm welcome by Antonio, he explained everything in detail and very entertaining from the area, the different grapes and the process of the 2 different fermentations. Later we tasted 7 “pure” wines of which afterwards we created our own blend. What a special experience! Thank you very much, Antonio and much further success with OWM!!

Enjoy the excellent wines and delightful atmosphere of one of Chile’s most prestigious traditional wineries. An engaging guided tour of our facilities, including the park, colonial manor house, old winery, and the large cellar built using the “cal y canto”—limestone and eggshell—technique in the 1880s. During the tour you will taste 3 wines, the experience ends in our new shop.

Having lived 2 hours from Napa for many years, we've been to a lot of wineries. This tour has a completely different focus: it's not a tour of production facilities as much as the best class I've ever had in how to really taste, select and enjoy wine. We took the premium tour that includes higher-end wines, with the time to sit down afterwards, enjoy two wines with paired appetizers, and ask questions of our expert guide. You WILL see the beautiful cellar which has withstood major earthquakes. A couple of hours beyond expectations.
