In the company of your expert wine guide you will discover the timeless wine growing villages and beautiful countryside of northern Burgundy. Your tour includes a minimum of 3 visits and tastings in at least 3 different wineries. You will be taken to a panoramic view point over-looking the Chablis Grand cru vineyards. During your tastings and visits to the vineyards you will learn everything you have always wanted know about wine-making and Burgundy wines. From the notion of "terroir" and the classification of the wines to vineyard techniques and the art of tasting, all will be revealed ! Clotilde Davenne is a personality, a feminist, a very clever winemaker and much more. We were a group of 18 visiting, with good English we were shown the cellars, learned about the wine making, tasting a lot of different top quality wines, mostly from the area. And being served a lunch: She mailed me as organizer: we also can prepare a lunch with spécialities of Chablis. Charcuteries and cheeses. I had expected a simple but ok lunch, what we got was high class. Absolutely top. All the time friendliness and Clotilde also came, and she is really something different. Summarized: I doubt you can spend a better part of the day in the area.

This hassle-free tour with private transportation ended up being a Godsend with the transportation strike and train schedules to Versailles being seriously "iffy." Who knows if we'd even made it there without Gustavo picking us up in his comfortable van? Once there, skipping the enormous line also proved worth the extra penny as Paris and sites like Versailles are growing in tourist numbers. Gustavo was interesting, polite and willing to answer all questions related to history, French culture and attitudes. He even set up a private tour of the apartments per our request. It's a long day, but Gustavo didn't overwhelm us with information overload and by the end of the tour, we felt we had made a new friend.

I would highly recommend this tour. Nick did a wonderful job of selecting the best wineries in the area for tastings and an education on French wines. Each wine maker shared the winery’s history and a bit on their wine making process. We started in the quaint town of Auxerre and made our way to the lovely town of Tonnerre with an excellent lunch on the way. The wine was great-easy to purchase along the way. Very manageable trip from Paris by train.

The tour as a whole was very - very good. Excellent guide. he did everything possible to make this day a succes. For those interested in wine (degustation as well as the making) this is a wonderfull experience. The combination of visiting the vineyards and the winemakers, the visit of l'hospice de Beaune and the pick - nick was a perfect mix.
