We took a half day tour with our guide Marcos of the main Monteverde park. We appreciated the flexibility in choosing which park we wanted to visit. Marcos was an excellent guide (great English): he was knowledgeable about a variety of topics, ranging from Costa Rican history, rainforest fauna and local wildlife. As a bonus, we managed to spot the elusive Quetzal bird!

Highly recommend! This was one of the best parts of our trip. The views were stunning. The guides were friendly. We enjoyed being able to go at full gallop at times. It made it more exciting than the Extreme Zipline parks we had done earlier in the day. We were treated to a bonus sugar cane tour with a hands on experience at the end.

We visited Monteverde and decided to take a guided tour of Curi-Cancha and then visit the Monteverde reserve on our own. Good decision! Herbert was an exceptional guide with an broad and deep knowledge of birds, mammals, plants and even the history and future of the area. I attempted Spanish but his English was too good to make my efforts worthwhile. We learned a ton and spotted multiple birds including bell birds, toucans, and several quetzales (male and female). Amazing. There is a separate area for hummingbirds where Herbert gave us good tips for filming them in flight. He was also really skilled at capturing great photos through our iPhone cameras via the scope that he brought along. After the approx 2.5 hours of walking through the beautiful park like reserve, we stopped with Herbert at the local crafts co-op, coffee house and dairy where we had ice cream and bought fresh cheeses. This was unplanned but Herbert graciously waited while we shopped a bit and enjoyed coffee tasting. High recommend this adventure.

Wow, honestly strop scrolling and just book with Jason or you will be disappointed. I took over 10 tours in all over Costa rica and he was by FAR our favorite of the whole trip. First getting a guide in Manuel Antonio National Park is necessary or your going to miss everything you came to costa rica for (do not try to save money and go without a guide). He points out more animals/ insects / etc in the first 10 minutes of the tour than you have probably seen in any other part of costa rica, all while being funny and super informative. He spotted everything, and literally 3 other guides 2 behind and 2 in front of us were asking for help to spot and he had to even set up the telescope for the other guide. He found a super rare poisonous snake that was impossible to see without his knowledge and the tour behind us even asked if they could look in our lens.. haha. Our whole family loved it. This was a real treat and made our last day in Costa rica so special

Efrain’s Night Tour is a MUST DO and a top highlight of our time in Costa Rica. Efrain (our Guide and Owner), was by far the most talented at spotting and describing the local wildlife and we will never forget this experience. During our time we observed frogs, spiders, snakes, sloths, scorpions and other night creatures. Efrain is so passionate and has deep family ties to the preservation and conservation of the Manuel Antonio Park. The night tour was so good, we had to use Efrain again for the Manuel Antonio Walking Tour the very next day! He also has a knack for getting some amazing pictures through his telescope with your phone for some amazing memories!

When the sun falls asleep, most creatures wake up to live. More than 80% of mammals, most reptiles and amphibians and also insects and arachnids are active at night in our forests, that's why walking through the forest at night is not only doing an unusual activity in our lives or learning in the forest. At night it is when fascinating animals such as sloths, kinkajous, bats, tarantulas, snakes, frogs, among others, are more likely to see, without forgetting the birds, yes, most birds are active during the day, but They need to rest somewhere. in those cases when we could also have the opportunity to see some beautiful and still birds while we dream, such as toucans, warblers, hummingbirds, jays, etc.

Our extended family of six emailed Jean Carlo for a tour of Monteverde Cloud Forest on short notice and we were so lucky that he was free. I would say that travelers should take his advice about what kind of tour they are looking for (birds/mammals/etc). He brought us to Curi-Cancha Reserve and we were not disappointed. We saw male and female Quetzels, Capuchins, Spider monkeys, and lots more. We couldn't recommend him enough and if we are ever lucky enough to be back in the area we will be giving him a call again.
