10 Tours in Dublin That You Shouldn't Miss

You've probably heard that Guinness tastes better in Dublin (fresh from the factory), but what you may not know is that Dublin is a perfect destination for the whole family. No, we're not suggesting you let the kiddies drink a pint. Instead, take them to the Dublin Zoo, to feed the ducks in Stephen's Green or on a picnic in Phoenix Park. Scholars enjoy walking in the literary footsteps of such writers as Yeats and Joyce, while discerning shoppers have their pick of designer boutiques.

We went on this tour early Dec.2019. I wasn’t sure what to expect or if I’d enjoy this, since I didn’t think I liked Guinness. What I hadn’t expected was the sheer delight of rollicking thru the hillsides and twisty country lanes chauffeured by a hilarious and charming leprechaun, disguised as a fellow named Shane. He beguiled us with tales and tunes and converted me into a Guinness lover by delivering my first Guinness and black, which is now my favorite beer. What an unforgettable night filled with Irish music and pubs full of singing and laughter! We’ll be looking Shane up again our next visit to Dublin!

Our guide was Karina and we couldn't have asked for a better one! She was brilliant and went way over the alloted 90 minutes. Very knowledgeable and a good laugh too, which we were in need of, it made for a very entertaining morning for myself and my son. Loved the little anecdotes from Bruce Springsteen to The beatles, as well as all the history, both modern and old. The recommendation of a good Whiskey shop was spot on and I'll look out for her in The Commitments film next time I watch it!

My wife, 11yr old son and I truly enjoyed our bike tour with Rosalinde. She was knowledgeable and passionate about the city. We did the tour on a Sunday so traffic in the city was pretty light which made the biking pretty easy. The city is pretty flat and the tour lasts about 3 hrs. Great opportunity to see a lot of the city must faster than on foot!

I have tasted whiskey in some out-of- the-way places, including Japan, Taiwan and Tasmania, which were very good. The Irish claim that they invented distilling, and say that their whiskey is best. Compared to Scotch, which has a smoky taste from the peat, I'd have to say Jameson's is smoother. Since the tasting, I've bought a few bottles of Irish whiskey, which I enjoyed. By the way, the Jameson's distillery is now in County Cork, in the south of the island.
