The misty hills, lush teakwood and sandalwood forests, and acres of tea and coffee plantations of Kodagu are, in a word, stunning. Also known as Coorg and dubbed "The Scotland of India," Kodagu is a postcard-perfect region of scattered villages and hamlets, which are the epitome of old-world charm. Kodagu is ideal for outdoor activities such as trekking, angling and white-water rafting, and major festivals like Keil Poldu (worship of weapons), Cauvery Shankaramana (return of the river goddess) and the Huttari (harvest) festival are a huge draw.

Hv stayed in RIYAVAR Luxury Homestay @ Coorg in mid May'22....we were 02 families.... enjoyed their exceptional hospitality...The owner Mrs Shilpa & her husband Mr Vinay were always there to help & guide us ... the staff they hv r very polite & soft spoken especially Mr Kartik who looks after the guests. Kartik also escorted us to visit the estate, coffee plantation, boating & river view... Property is too good with spick & span rooms , bed sheets , bath rooms etc. Overall we all enjoyed our stay & highly recommend to stay.

Very small and pathetic condition of rooms. The photos they show on website is completely different. The washroom is so small that you couldnt fit in. The person on reception is rude. The bed has very bad smell and there were many insects in the room.

Location is very convenient. The room was amazingly large, but placement of the mirror is very much in the corner. Should be shifted a bit to the right. Service and staff is excellent. Clean. The property must get a proper restaurant and room service must begin. Serving just tea and coffee is not sufficient.

Once owned by G K Martin a British planter, built in 1867, now a luxury home stay standing atop the Abiyal Hill amidst a coffee plantation is surrounded by majestic mountains, serene valleys and breathtaking 360 degree view, and a spectator to the splendid moon rise and natural reflections of the morning sunrise. The serenity of this place cannot be mentioned in words, a paradise for nature lover
I had been searching for a homestay in Coorg that would have the best views of the hills and after a lot of research chanced upon this quaint house on booking.com which had awesome pictures . Though I was a bit wary as this was a standalone house away from the town , all my fears were allayed when i visited the place . If you want a quiet rejuvenating stay listening to birds and soaking in the hills , this is a great place to be . Has 360 degree views of the rolling hills from all rooms , away from the crowded city centre( however just a 15 min auto ride away ) is located on the top of a 3 level coffee estate that was bought by the owners family from the British. The sunrise and the clouds on the hills seem a stones throw away from the balcony from where everywhere you look you see the rolling hills . Everything was perfect from the delicious homecooked food , attentive caretakers and huge rooms that were very tastefully done . Right from the shower panels to the curtains and upholstery , everything is of great quality. There is a vintage four poster brass bed in one of the bedrooms and the bathrooms are as big as a room. The owner was very helpful and sent us a car to pick us as we arrived early in the morning and helped connect us to local cabs for sightseeing, even gave us his personal wifi device . If you love nature , this is an awesome place to be ...
