Stunning Hotel, Amazing Staff

Reviewed By J9848QAdeboraha

This is our first time visiting Rhodes and we really wanted it to be a special, memorable experience as so many holiday makers would after a couple of years being unable to go abroad. We do use Trip Advisor as a guide when booking holidays and hotels, this occasion was no exception. Atrium Palace already has almost 5000, 5 star reviews - almost too good to be true but ratings like that, shouldn't dismissed and we're so glad we bit the bullet and booked our holiday here. This is another 5 star review and also the first I've ever written for a holiday. The hotel complex is stunning. The buildings are immaculate. Grandeur is definitely the vibe they are going for and they have completely nailed it. The grounds are beautiful - so much greener than we expected. A tremendous selection of trees, shrubs and flowers are planted in every available space and add to the the wow factor of the complex. Both the buildings and grounds are cared for to the highest standards. Staff are continually, yet unobtrusively, going about their business making sure the surroundings are kept in pristine condition. The food is wonderful too - there are several restaurants on site to choose from. The main restaurant is buffet style but the selection of food ensures that there is something for everyone. The quality of the food is exceptional and as you would expect, the fresh fruit and vegetables are full of flavour - I'm sure that has something to do with the 300 days of sunshine Rhodes is gifted with each year. We have a garden view room (439) which also, and was a surprise to us, has a small pool just outside the patio doors. This is not a swim up room, which are also available, therefore was completely unexpected so another little bonus for us. Our room has been kept immaculate throughout our stay - the house keepers work tirelessly and always greet guests with a smile. It is so hard to pick out individual staff, there are so many who have made our stay special and all the more enjoyable however, the few who we seem to touch base with most days and have been particularly attentive and welcoming are Rena, Mariana and Francesca.... no doubt, by the end of our stay, we'll have learned a few more names and need to add to our list and edit the review. Of course, there are so many behind the scenes, the chefs and groundsmen & women who we can't name unfortunately but their contribution to the overall impact of this hotel's stature cannot be overlooked. This truly exceptional facility would not receive such ratings if the entire team were not working so hard behind the scenes and ensuring the high standards are maintained across the board. I'm sure the management are already aware of this but hope this review reinforces that fact. Thank you to all the staff and management - we will be back to finish our site seeing of the island because one week, simply isn't enough.

Two weeks ago we came back from the holiday spending 10 wonderful days in Mitsis Grand hotel. The hotel and especially the en-suite are a little bit dated, the indoor swimming pool unfortunately closed and both outdoor pools very cold. Bearing in mind last 2 Covid 19 years, extremely difficult for the tourist industry, the hotel is trying to do the best to compensate all this by an exceptional cleanness, excellent customer service and great entertainment and food. NEFELI at the concierge desk was our angel sorting out ALL our problems and answering questions as soon as we had one. ELENA in the Greek restaurant was so quick serving us, she was almost flying! And all the time with a smile on her face. In fact it’s very difficult to mention everyone helping at the hotel as everybody was very kind and always ready to help. The food was very tasty especially in the Greek and Italian restaurants. The room was spacious with a nice size balcony overlooking the garden. As the sea side was very windy we’ve done the right choice booking the garden facing one. And finely: During our stay my husband celebrated his birthday. We didn’t mention this while checking in so it was a very pleasant surprise for him to receive that day an email and card with birthday wishes from the hotel and a birthday cake (very tasty!) with a bottle of Prosecco in our room! Overall our stay was extremely pleasant and we would strongly recommend this hotel.

Amazing holiday

This was our first visit to this hotel, booked via Tui, and no airport problems. Everything was simply perfect. Upon arrival by car, this took 1 hour 10 going, and 1 hour 30 returning, same route but different driving speed. We then arrived to the wow factor reception, a glass of bubbles and a fantastic welcome. We were then taken by golf buggy to our room by the most helpful young men. The view from our room was just unbelievable! stunning :-) We chose a sea view private pool room which was just fantastic. After the last couple of horrendous years, my husband and I really just needed to have time out and relax and we got just that. Although the main pool wasn't busy so anyone choosing that you wouldn't have any trouble getting a sun lounger at any time of the day. I wasn't a fan of the beach, it is pretty stony, but again plenty of sunbeds and so peaceful on there. In fact the whole resort is just peace and quiet. It is not adults only, and I would say only suitable for babies and toddlers, older children would be bored. The food is great in every restaurant. I am not a fan of buffets, I prefer to sit and choose from a menu and there was plenty of option throughout the resort for this. The grounds of the hotel are very well kept and lovely to walk around. The hotel is spotless, the staff cannot do enough for you, and Katrina, just wow! I stupidly left a dress behind in the wardrobe and the same day she so kindly had it sent to the UK for me! The weather was perfect, both day and night, exactly how we had hoped. If I were to give one negative I would say after breakfast it would be good to be able to sit at the pool or main bar and have a drink but they don't open until 11am. 10am would have been great. The hotel is very remote, so this is for anyone who likes to 'fly and flop' as we do. Rhodes town was too far for us to travel to, same as Lindos especially as we were only there for 1 week. But we were very happy to relax around the fabulous private pool and admire the stunning view all day. We will without any hesitation return, it was the best holiday we have ever had. To anyone who is about to go there, you are very lucky! :-)

Vitamin Sea & Sunsets

Reviewed By SRtravels96

We visited Astir Odysseus the first week in June as a couple. We booked through Jet2 – which we would highly recommend, especially if going from ? M a n c h e s t e r ?. Wow, what an amazing holiday and hotel! A week flew by, and I wanted to stay so much longer, but hope to return. I think the place to start is the views, from mountains on one side to sea and island views on the other, the location of this hotel is exceptional for scenery and of course sunsets!! We even saw lightening across Turkey/Bodrum a few nights whilst staying here which was amazing to sit and watch from afar. It’s been a while since I’ve stayed in a beach front hotel, and it made me realise how much I love and have missed having a private beach right there at the hotel. The colour of the sea and the sound of the waves was beautiful to look at and listen too. One of the best things about this hotel was the lagoon/beach pool, as it was perfectly located for sea views and a sea breeze, the sunbeds were spacious (and we never had a problem getting a sunbed – no morning rushes and reserving), and the pool itself was great. It was always a little cool upon getting in, but you soon adjust to the temperature. You can order drinks to your sunbed via the app you download at check in which is a great feature. We were half board during our stay, which worked well overall. There is the option to upgrade to All Inclusive at the hotel so personally I would consider booking half board and consider upgrading at the hotel if it is better value. The drinks are around €3 for a soft drink or juice, €4 for a beer, €9 for a cocktail, so we would’ve had more to drink had we been all inclusive, but we are big water drinkers and were happy buying the large bottles of water from the hotel shop for €1 a few times a day. One of the reasons we stuck with half board was because of lunch. Lunch in the hotel is at the Argo restaurant where all inclusive have free access to a lunch buffet or can pay a reduced amount for a freshly prepared lunch (salad, pizza, sandwiches etc). We ate here and paid full price for our lunch most days but thoroughly enjoyed the food prepared, a lot more than we would have enjoyed buffet for lunch and tea every day, so it was worth it for us – everything we ate was amazing: Greek Salad, Ceaser Salad (with smoked salmon), Special Pizza, Chicken Focaccia sandwich and more. You get bread and butter before, and melon after with your lunch for free too when having a meal. Another thing to note is the Ithaka A La Carte restaurant isn’t included in All Inclusive and this is somewhere we wanted to eat so again being half board worked fine for us in this instance… PLEASE go and eat at Ikatha during your stay – it is honestly one of the best experiences and meals we’ve ever had. The service was exceptional, the views of the sunset were unbeatable, and the food was amazing. We both tried grilled octopus for the first time, and it was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! It was so quiet when we went, only us and 1 other couple in the restaurant. There are so many different room options here, so it was interesting to walk around the hotel and scope out the different types – we stayed in a basic room with garden view and we were very pleased with the cleanliness and room features we had, as well as the quietness of our room location. We did feel some rooms would be busier than ours in terms of people walking past etc. In the room there is full size bottles of shampoo, body wash and body lotion which if we’d known this would’ve saved us some packing weight. You don’t have to pay for a safe or Wi-Fi here too which is good. There really are not many negatives – not enough to put me off returning anyway – but just some things to note. We were aware of a Greek hotel tax before arriving as Jet2 has told us we would be required to pay this upon arrival to the hotel, however this didn’t happen and so we were a bit unprepared (basically forgot about it) when it was presented to us to pay at the end of our stay when checking out – so please be aware of that. It was €28 for a week for the 2 of us. The food in the main restaurant did get boring, it started off well, we thoroughly enjoyed our first evening of Greek food and the second evening was a Mexican themed night which was great but then for the rest of the holiday there was no other themes, and it became a bit repetitive in the end. The restaurant and food were lovely, and we were a big fan of breakfast (shout out to the lovely omelette guy), but I think this was the only thing we would’ve started to struggle with had we been staying longer than a week. We also, as a couple in quite a family occupied hotel, liked to go to dinner a bit later when it was quieter, sometimes after the sunset so 8:30/9pm – and it did feel like food began to run out and they weren’t refilling, so slightly less selection or fresh food. Our biggest disappointment however was not being able to get to Tingaki via bus. We had a lovely day out to Kos town, super easy to get on the bus outside the hotel and back, and we thought it would be just as simple to hop on the bus to go 5km in the other direction to the main strip on Tingaki, and the beach and/or the Salt Lake. But we were told we’d have to get a taxi which would be €12 each way, so on this occasion we decided against it which is a shame, perhaps if we went at a slightly cooler time we would’ve hired bikes and cycled there. Jet 2 state the transfer time is approx. 50 mins, but it was more like 1hr 30 – I would consider booking a private transfer next time to avoid the bus journey.  Another thing to note is the size of this hotel, even on our sunbathing days we both did 10,000 + steps a day, and because our room was close to the front of the hotel it could take 10 mins to get to the end of the lagoon pool where we liked our sunbeds. It was fine for us, but good to be aware of. But honestly, if you are thinking of booking this hotel, and our looking for a hotel that has everything you need to unwind and have a fun break then DO IT. It was an absolutely amazing holiday and I have major holiday blues now – thank you Astir Odysseus.

A very well run hotel

Reviewed By Krzy42

We stayed at Dimitra Beach for 10 nights in May 0f 2022. Had a bungalow with a see view which was large enough and comfortable. The meals were excellent (although being a senior I would often prefer much less salt). The waiters were fast and very nice. The cleaning lady was most helpful. If I could suggest improvements - I would let guests make their own coffee from coffee machines rather than have it served. The only thing that seemed questionable was the bathroom made of glass with no lockable door. Very little privacy. Otherwise, a first class hotel on a beautiful island.

This hotel is nothing less than stunning. Views to die for, spotlessly clean, great modern rooms. The food is incredible, the buffet is really good, the choice in a la carte well worth a visit, we always found plenty to eat in every restaurant. We’ve seen some comments about the wine, but we found the rose really lovely and one of our party is very picky. The best part about the hotel though is the staff. Every single person was lovely, really helpful and made you feel like they were pleased to see you. A special mention to the wonderful Adina who looked after us so well in the bar. Best holiday ever!

Reviewed By kates1996

We have spent the past 10 days at Mayia and we absolutely loved it. Devastated to be home! From the moment we got there we felt like royalty, drink on arrival, someone helped take our bags to our room, the gentleman gave us some advice on things to do and places to see, we arrived late at night so there was two plates of food left for us in our room. We stayed in a deluxe swim up room with sea view, we were to the right of the hotel we would say the most perfect location. Close the pools, close to the bar, close to reception and close to the restaurants. The room was always kept immaculately clean, the cleaners every day were so lovely and thorough. The bed was the biggest most comfy bed we have ever had. The mini bar was stocked daily with a range of drinks, alcohol and snacks. This was a really nice touch. The swim up pool was fantastic, was nice to chill by the room and sunbathe. The shower in the bedroom was amazing too, really powerful and came with lots of toiletries. The restaurants here were impeccable. We loved the wasabi, the choice of Asian dishes were so good. (Book as soon as you can as it fills fast) The Italian server nicer food than we had when we recently went to Rome. The pizza is stunning. The Greek restaurant was much nicer than we thought it would. The service in all 3 was first class. The food hall by the pool was such a nice touch, you can have burger/wraps/salads/sandwiches/ice cream/crepes and much more. To have this option was really good. We ate in various places every day and we were never let down by any of them. The main food restaurant, you get greeted by two lovely ladies who are always so welcoming and elegantly walk you to your table, the waiters/waitresses were always so polite and helpful. The food was different every night but there was always something you’d like. The choice of meats and salad is really good. The deserts are incredible. It’s spotlessly clean there and nothing was too much for anyone. The pools were incredible. Two massive pools, always choice of sunbeds which is good. I take my hat off to the waiters around the pool, they were always checking to make sure you had something to drink, always asking if you needed anything. They were constantly on the go and so polite through it all. We really loved the guy who was serving the drinks by the pool on the left (by the Italian restaurant) The beach is a 2 minute walk from the hotel and they offer for a charge options of jet skis, boat hire, paddle boarding and various things. We done the jet skis twice and hired a boat to go and see Lindos. Highly recommend both of these. The views we saw when we hired the boat were insane. The nicest views ever. The staff working on the beach were super friendly and welcoming too. The all inclusive cocktails were lush! Normally in all inclusive your drinks are watered down and not very nice but in Mayia they were incredible. We loved the tropical dream cocktail, that was soooo nice!! In the evenings we would sit by the main bar near reception and the waiter who was serving us was sooooo lovely, he was new but was doing a fantastic job. Overall, the staff are incredible. So attentive. So friendly and so welcoming. Every time we saw a waiter, a cleaner or any member of the team they would say hello to us and we loved it. The hotel is out of this world, we could not pick a fault. Normally you go somewhere and there is something you don’t like or something you can pick up on, not here. Everything and I mean everything was incredible. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back.
