Pentre Mawr Country House

Set in an area of designated natural beauty in the foothills of the Clwydian hills Pentre Mawr Country House has a lovely romantic feel to it...set as it is in nearly 200 acres of meadows, park and woodland. There are all the little extras that you would expect in a fine country house at Pentre but it is run on a much softer line. Meals are served either in the Oak room or the formal dining room but with none of the stuffiness. We are delighted to announce that we have received 5 Stars and a dining award from the AA There are two lovely sitting rooms all with comfy sofas and portraits of Graham's ancestors. The hidden walled garden is a lovely place to sit and read or just relax and smell the roses. We are more than happy to welcome guest dogs as we have two collies and two cats of our own here.

Wonderful venue with truly amazing staff

Reviewed By Jane W

Our daughter got married at Pentre Mawr on May 7th. All the team at Pentre Mawr were truly amazing, nothing was to much trouble and they all went out of their way to make this such a special day for all of us. Bre and Graham make it all look so effortless and are always smiling, I think the wedding manager was Abbie and again she was fantastic. We couldn't recommend the venue highly enough, it looked absolutely beautiful-it seems to have its own weather pattern and the sun shined all day!

A gem of a campsite in a beautiful location.

Reviewed By hawysv2018

This is an absolute gem of a campsite situated in one of the most beautiful places in not just the UK but the world. The staff are amazing and sooooo helpful (especially when your campervan breaks down) and did everything to make my extended stay not just bearable but most enjoyable. Also in this group are all the amazing fellow campers (both human and canine variety)! Offers of lifts, general help in moving pitch to simply great company. You know who you are! Facilities are spotless, lots for the kids to do and despite being almost completely full, you never felt on top of each other. One small warning: just watch those speed bumps as you turn off the main road! ? Thank you to Len, Darren, Gareth, Warren and the rest of the team. I’ll see you in about a week to pick up Daphne the Campervan!!

Another perfect holiday

Reviewed By Sue D

Another brilliant week at Caeiago, the horses may change but they remain steady, sure footed and forward going. What does not change are the impossibly high standards that Lesley maintains in respect of food, cleanliness and desire to make your stay as good as it can be. Quite right and proper BHS awarded a highly commended/commended approval rating in 2019, so well deserved for all the hard work that goes in to making your stay so happy and memorable.

Camping Weekend

Reviewed By DeeHeayns

A quiet campsite with excellent facilities, great views and local walks. We had a little trip out in the car to Porthmadog (10 mins drive). Lovely little place with a real “holiday” feel. Very friendly owners who were also very helpful. We made good use of the fire pit and the picnic table on our pitch. I really liked, and appreciated the laid back “ pitch wherever you fancy” approach to how the site is run too. We will be visiting again without a doubt. I’d highly recommend this campsite to anyone who loves a quiet site with good facilities for campers.

Total relaxation in a Cow Shed!

Reviewed By MamaG2011

What a wonderful hideaway to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life (especially in these Covid times) and unwind with the family, close to glorious beaches, fabulous walks and with the added bonus of far-reaching views, from the property, almost total silence at night, easy parking, and it's own extensive play area for children (young and not so young!). I fell upon Asheston by chance when researching places to stay in south west Wales, and was especially drawn to the "Eco" part of the name. What a great find! We applaud the considerable efforts being made to create an eco-friendly holiday venue, and particularly welcomed being able to charge our electric car on the premises. The Asheston information App was so useful in so many ways, and we hope other property owners follow this lead - great idea! The Cow Shed was private and comfortable, and although we had read about the welcome pack in other reviews, it was so exciting to find it there waiting on our arrival. As mentioned by another reviewer, we would have liked to have been able to make the two main bedrooms a little darker - the skylights are lovely, but the sun comes up very early! Karen was delightful to deal with, always answering our queries promptly, and coming round to welcome us personally. We appreciated the extra measures taken to make the property Covid-safe, and the huge open space around the barns meant that we never came into close contact with other visitors. We felt safe and able to relax immediately. Our toddler grandson loved the play area, which proved very useful when trying to prise him off the beach! He also enjoyed the toy box and books in the property and the ride-in cars in the garden. It just made it easier for us that he was happy, and we could enjoy sitting out in the evening sun over a drink whilst he played. We did find the fridge-freezer a bit on the small side for the number of people this property could accommodate, especially when stocking up with a supermarket delivery at the start of our stay (and with two guys who like cold beer!). Someone in another review mentioned difficulty in getting a supermarket delivery, but the Cow Shed App recommended those delivering in the area and we had no problems at all. On the cleaning front, it would have been helpful to have had a vacuum cleaner easily accessible for a quick tidy round during our stay. Everything about Asheston made for a most enjoyable and relaxed week with our family and if our grandson has any sway, we will be back there in the very near future (as if we need persuading!).

We stayed here for my partners birthday in Spring and all I can say is that you HAVE to come here. The experience from start to finish was incredible. The location is stunning, our tent was sooo comfortable and decorated beautifully and Debbie and Ian went out of their way to ensure our stay was fantastic. The bathrooms are spotless and the communal barn and kitchen is fabulous. Hands down the best glamping experience I've had.

Pen-Y-Dre Farm Holidays

An ideal holiday location especially for families or groups keen to visit The Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, or walk the Offa`s Dyke Path. The village has The Skirrid Mountain Inn, which is the oldest pub in Wales and was used as Judge Jeffrie`s Court. The scenery is superb with The Skirrid Mountain behind and The Black Mountains just beyond the village. Ideally situated to explore the Wye Valley, Welsh Border Country, Forest of Dean, The Brecon Beacons National Park & South Wales.

Can’t fault it

A mile off the Offas Dyke Path but walking that extra mile to get to this delightful place is well worth it. Met by Idris who owns the B n B, we were made welcome straight away. That welcome included a large slab of cake to enjoy with a cup of tea in the room. The rooms are cozy, clean and very tastefully quirky. Breakfast was plentiful and included cereals, yoghurts, fruit, toast and a fry up.. What more could you ask for.. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone ..

Lovely, tranquil weekend spent ar Dwr y Felin. The cabins were stunning and with tranquil settings and scenery. We were instantly relaxed as soon as we arrived. The bed was very comfortable and the hot tub was a lovely place to watch the sheep and stallion during day and sunset and stars at night! Sarah the owner was very flexible as we had to change days and was very hospitable when we met her. Highly recommend. Definitely looking to visit again! Tom and Maria, Cardiff
