A good place for beautiful days in South Bahia

Reviewed By georgesvillejh

The pousada is very well managed. We had a beautiful suite (suite 2) with balcony in front of the Ocean. Confortable king bed and great bathroom, hamac... All the confort. The beach, just in front the pousada, is fantastic, more than warm in this season (January). Two nice guys are taking care of your confort and offering you coconut juice (in the coconut) when you want. The breakfast (included) is more than great (tropical fruits, cakes of all sort, cheese, eggs, ham with particular bahian items: couscous de milho, bananas da terra cosidas, cocadas, bijous de tapioca...). You can use or not the restaurant (particularly good at lunch) with its good menu of local food (and fresh fish of the day). With the bikes you can rent, you can visit several other restaurants in the neighborhood from "cantines" to fancy resort places. There is suffisent room not to be inconvenienced by the other customers. The ambiance is familial.

Relaxing weekend

Reviewed By BrasiliaLinda

We spent a weekend at this charming pousada. We woke up to the sounds of the birds singing in the trees. They served a varied breakfast buffet that had more than 20 dishes to satisfy the palates of any guest. There were many families present during our stay . The children enjoyed themselves on the play structure as well as in the pool .All chalets had a verandah with a hammock , table and chairs to enjoy the garden surroundings. It was spacious, clean and comfortable with a double bed and twin bed in the room. We had the comfort of air conditioning, a flat screen TV with cable and a mini- refrigerator. Our hosts Helio and Marcia were attentive to all our needs and very informative about the village. It is a only a short walk to the beach or the river and the restaurants. I would recommend this pousada.

Itacare EcoRanch

Itacare EcoRanch is a farm of 40ha area of which 25ha are primary Atlantic rainforest. The owners have combined here their desire for rainforest conservation and passion for horses. Paradise!

Reviewed By Amy S

We stumbled across Didier's ranch by chance when we decided to google horse riding in the area. Expecting a quick tourists experience, we were absolutely blown away by our time spent at the eco-ranch. I am a rider with medium experience, whereas my partner has very little experience from 20 years ago as a child. We were both very apprehensive as Didier's horses are trained with one-handed western style riding, something neither of us had experience with before. We were desperate to take his longest hack through the rainforest and beach, so he kindly agreed to take us out for a tester 'around the ranch' the day before. This 'tester' turned out to be probably one of the most memorable experiences of our lives... Didier's horses are the calmest, gentle and responsive animals we have ever experienced. Combined with Didier's gentle and calm demeanour, they are the perfect team. Within an hour of arriving at the ranch (which is absolutely breathtaking!) Didier had us both out in the rainforest, cantering on the horses with one hand - which felt completely safe and normal. Absolutely nothing like my experiences at high-pressure and disconnected British riding schools. The connection we both felt to the animals was unreal and my partner had never cantered in his life. The scenery was absolutely mindblowing and we were taken off route, with the horses picking their way through the trees & vines of the Atlantic rainforest. It was so overwhelming, my partner was almost moved to tears. We were absolutely blown away and couldn't wait for the next full day out with the horses. Didier sells his ride at around 5 hours, but we were out closer to 8. He is evidently so passionate about his animals and they adore him. He took us through the villages, rainforest and waterfalls and then down to Jeribucacu beach, leaving the horses to be watched over by the locals at lunchtime. We had the best meal and Acai we had had in Itacare for our whole fortnight (and promptly returned the next day for the same). At the end of the day, Didier invited us to give the horses a shower and feed them jackfruit which was really special. They have acres and acres of land to roam and still obviously want to be close to him. There were even points in the day where the horses would shout to him from the opposite end of the ranch. It was a really unbelievable experience. We didn't stay at the ranch but were shown the beautiful villas they ave on site and we now can't wait to organise to stay with Didier & Marta next year for a longer period of time. If you love horses, this place will completely blow you away!!
