May 18, 2023 Rosalyn Ihle

Just three hours from Bangkok, Ko Samet is a favorite weekend beach getaway for expats and locals alike. However, most tourists head further south for their island breaks. Most of the island is protected as part of Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet National Park, making it clean and relatively unspoiled. The island offers a variety of resorts, from the quiet and family-orientated to those catering to the party-till-dawn crowd.

Just beautiful

The bungalows are lovely, clean, fresh, large comfy bed, lovely clean bathroom looks like they are fairly new. They are set round a small garden area. Although on the main road from pier it's very quiet, good breakfast too, cannot find any faults. Plenty of bars and restaurants on the door step and 5 minute walk to the lovely clean beach with bar/restaurants, sand white and like fine powder loved it. They are doing a clean up which is lovely to see but when we got back to the mainland the a.miunt of rubbish floating in the port was disgusting. Would go back here any day.

Nice and friendly environment

I booked this hotel from their online website after have mail conversations with them. They are responsive and nice. I booked garden house for 2 nights and following is my view about this resort: Room: quite good than what you get in other resorts in this rate and room was clean and they have system of making it clean everyday. Before I have mix experience of staying in budgeted resorts coz some has old and not well maintained furniture or some are not clean but here I found good match. Beach: in day time they have beach but in evening beach in front of resort disappear due to high water level but you can enjoy beach both side of this resort and it is one of nice beach what you will see in Koh Samed. Breakfast and food: we are vegetarian and we requested it in booking which they read and offer us vegetarian options in their menu. For lunch restaurant open again 1.30 pm and their food is tasty and less costly than other resorts within this beach. We enjoyed lunch here but they take orders only until 5 in evening so we never had dinner here. Both side of resort have so many restaurants and you can walk to other restaurant from beach side. Another restaurant I suggest is the one on Apache beach resort. Parking and other activities: they have two wheeler parking at horizon resort side (both are same basically). They can arrange trip for number of activities. My three days vacation was perfect. Hotel manager and her mom both are so friendly and they understand English vary well.

Room is nice and modern in decor, includes coffee making facility, fridge, in room sitting area, patio with sitting area, tv with cable but very few english channels. Best part of the stay were the owners, Winnie & Mark, both were nice & friendly, easy to talk to and gave us a good deal when we paid direct for an extended stay.

Location is on the beach. It's Noi Nar beach of Samed Island. It's almost 2 km from the pier and quite far from city center. Rent a motorbike is necessary. Sea view room is suitable size. There is a balcony to see the sea. There is refrigerator, hot water pot and hair dryer in the room. The towel is terrible. It's not absorb water and loose its hair. All staffs are acceptable, not impressed me. Food is standard. Breakfast is general.

Miss Tim House

Miss Tim ruined our Trip.

Reviewed By franziska k

We booked a room about one month in advance on Booking.com....we arrived and found the property deserted...nobody in charge around..I called the numbers stated and a Thai lady said "Miss Tim is not well, she is in hospital"and they hung up. I first believed it but later it was weird..neighbors were saying hotel is full and they tried showing me to different rooms at way higher price (it was a holiday weekend). One lady said "Miss Tim not in hospital, she in beach selling stuff" (which was true). I walked around the property and found one door open and a room which SEEMED prepared for guests. All neighbors who were watching me were amused and said it is not our room but I made myself comfy. Suddenly a Thai girl and her boyfriend arrived and they were supposed to move into the last empty room which I took. I asked when they booked and they said TODAY and they "simply called" a bit ago and Miss Tim confirmed she had a room for them (at a higher price than I paid)...so suddenly the neighbors really had to call Miss Tim and she did come back from the beach where she was selling air mattresses,et and she quickly threw our stuff out of the room, cleaned it and let the Thai couple move in !. She kept saying she is not to blame, her sister ,blablabla...NEVER owning up that she lied to me and double booked her place to make more money, leaving us stranded without a room. I demanded she should get us a room, since the island was booked out and we did end up in a neighbors place for the same rate (but it was NOT a hotel..it was a dirty room which was usually used by a teenage boy and it was terrible)...however we did walk around and nowhere had rooms. we still saw people at 1am looking for rooms...it was terrible cause we really looked forward to a vacation and it got ruined by this DISHONEST woman...first saying miss tim is in hospital, hanging up on me, then acting like she is not miss tim..OMG ! Luckyli the next morning we did find a room which was nice for one night but all the anger really ruined everything !

Samed My House

Did the job

Reviewed By Millie C

The room we had was nice, clean and comfortable but basic. Samed Chill is in a good location for the beach and restaurants and bars but was very difficult to find as up a side road and no signage on the road and only one small sign outside the house. There was no one there when we arrived so had to wait quite a while for the cleaner to turn up so we could get the key. Speaking to others they seemed to have the same confusing experience. Overall though Samed chill is nice and I would stay here again as could walk everywhere and the bed was comfy.

Crescent Bay Resort

Not a resort, a very basic hotel.

Reviewed By Craig G

Location was good, being right on the beach, but the construction work that is ongoing is a bit off putting, making the place look dirty. The room was large with a bathroom and toilet, and the air conditioner worked well. There is NO in room safe, so we were forced to carry our papers and money wherever we went. The room was not serviced the 2 nights we were there, so there were no fresh towels or bedding. The bedding was thin and worn out, and our bed sheet was torn. The hotel only took cash so make sure you have plenty of Thai Baht with you. The price $60AUD per night was a bit steep for what we got, but then overall Koh Samet is not a cheap island stay. The restaurant next to the hotel is where we based ourselves and it was a great little place, they let you just sit there all day.... I would definitely go more upmarket if I returned to this island.
