Fantastic experience ????

Reviewed By Clairemcl662

What a wonderful way to finish off our honeymoon trip! We had a lovely 2 night stay in Hlosi Game Lodge, with fantastic food, very friendly staff and amazing game drives. Our ranger, Evans, was great fun and very knowledgable about all the animals. He made sure to give us the best experience on the drives- we saw elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes and so much more!! The only downside was the weather- it was pretty stormy with some impressive rain showers, but thankfully cleared up well for the drives. The drives were cold once the sun was gone, so I would advise lots of layers, a wooly hat, a snood and even gloves (during the winter months anyway)! Overall fantastic experience and would highly recommend a stay here!

Simply outstanding experience

Reviewed By Gavin R

My wife and I stayed at Shamwari Beyethe Lodge for 3 nights as part of our Honeymoon trip. We are both keen flora and fauna enthusiasts and joining a sustainable and ethical safari was top of the list to build our Honeymoon around. All I can say is we were both blown away with the experience we had at Shamwari Bayethe Lodge and would live there if we could! We were welcomed by Buli who made us instantly feel welcome and very relaxed and took us through the check in process. The lodge was absolutely amazing and whilst I could put up a ton of photos, I do not want to spoil the experience and wow factor for those who are considering going. All I can say is the facilities are amazing and you have a balcony overlooking areas of the reserve. You will not be disappointed! The food in the main lodge is equally amazing with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner being served daily. The quality of the food was outstanding the the service from all staff could not be rivalled. There was no cocktails on the beverage menu, however Nina (very helpful Lodge Manager) made us aware that Anele (Barista) was a keen cocktail enthusiast and would make us something if we asked. We took up this offer and asked Anele if he would make us a cocktail and he was delighted at being asked. He made the most amazing Pina Colada which had us hooked and we enjoyed Aneles 'daily recommendation' during out trip. Last but by no means least, the game drives. We were paired up with a ranger called Raymond Simmons who could not do enough for my wife and I which included remaining very enthusiastic as we seeked out the lions in the pouring rain. Raymond helped make our safari experience one that we will remember for the rest of our lives and we keep regularly talking about when we will go back. I could go on all day about how amazing Shamwari is but I do not want to reveal everything and leave it as one big surprise for those considering visiting. All I can say is go for it, its an amazing place and I know you will not regret it.

Venue and service spectacular - Host questionable

Reviewed By J7359VTdalec

A review of two sides; firstly, the venue is stunning, the wildlife walking around the hotel is a marvel to behold for people like ourselves that do not see this every day. We were a little disappointed that the property is not big enough for safari drives, but we had to travel on the next door Shamwari Game Reserve. Dining was perfect and service was unbelievable. The ranger was very knowledgeable and took the time to give us a wonderful safari experience. The host, Craig, gave us a little bit of a scare, I accidentally entered the office from a wrong door which was behind the desk. He had a live close up camera image of the swimming pool area on the screen directly showing a female guest lying in her swimsuit on a sun lounger, what made me more uneasy was his reaction. the laptop was slammed shut and he looked so guilty. In this day when one reads about accommodations where staff spy on guests, seeing someone invading another's privacy was concerning and this really left us with a bad feeling and experience.
